The first thing you should know is that it is spelled 'Buddhism.'
I recommend you read "The Heart of the Buddha's Teachings' by Thich Nhat Hanh. He is a Vietnamese Buddhist monk and a truly gifted writer.
You might also try "A Gradual Awakening" by Steven Levine.
Buddhism is something that, I find, is much better experienced than explained.
