People who make a habit of 'copy and paste' don't know enough about a subject to explain it themselves, although they still want the credit for the information given. Short and to the point is the best way to go.

There are times when I resort to pasting an answer from the Catechism of the Church and other sources regarding a teaching being questioned by an asker; e.g.. purgatory, but not an entire book. The Church makes these materials for its members so why should I not use them?
Even if it is not read at least I have stated the teaching of the Church accurately. If I paraphrase the teaching it might be misinterpreted or even misunderstood. Anyway, the material is only for the person asking the question so I see no reason why this is wrong; unless he has other motives for asking the question.
May the Lord's peace be with you!

Most of the time I write my own answer, but I may find a document that is worth reading. If the questioner is legit, they would be interested in reading all they can. I don't think I've actually posted anything like that though, ussually just leave the websight and might posts a section of main interest. Mostly stick to what I knw anyways. I can write my own books to post so it's not copy paste too. would that be better? LOL

Because we get tired of having to give long answers. I've thought about copying and pasting The Origin Of The Species. I might do it yet. Secondly, anyone who wants to truly understand the theory behind evolution WILL read it.

If it's a single paragraph acknowledged as a quote and relevant to the question it can be acceptable, if you need to scroll through a whole page my advice is don't read it, they are trying to dominate through a kind of pasting tyranny.

Some find it difficult, to form an entire sentence! And I agree,
if you really want to get an idea across, keep it short, and on track. No more books, No more books!

Amen.
I don't mind long posts that answer the question, but those copy-and-paste sermons are abusive of the system.

If I see a long question or answer like that, then I usually ignore it. It's obvious it's not the persons own word, it's just their way of looking smart.

Maybe they think length is more important than content.
I award a lot of my best answers to the longest post, particularly if I can tell it is in someone's original words.
