Religion & Spirituality - 21 February 2007

I mean my cat is smarter than most of you. He doesn't sit around and pray, he just scratches you when he's hungry. I think he uses the Force to alert him when he's hungry. I guess he could just listen to his stomach, but that would be like a christian listening to facts or evidence.Why listen to reality when you can make up your own? So, is it the Force? Or maybe cats are more evolved than us and have dropped religion by now?

I grew up in the Methodist church, and realized about the time of my confirmation (14 or 15 years old) that I was basically there to please family members. I decided to try to figure what I actually believed of the church's teachings; when I decided the answer was "Almost none of it", I started volunteering in the church nursery during the services, and stopped going when it was possible to do so without incurring family wrath.

How were you brought up? When and how did you make your decision about religion? If you left the family church, how did your parents react when you "came out" as an atheist?

so many different species of flesh eating marsupial tree snails just in my back yard. sure we love how they rid us of the filthy uglies known as squirels (wahaby ones), but if there was such a thing as speciation (must i remind you of big bird ;) )then there must be roughly 3 new species of squirel eating snails per back yard. of course you know that this isn't true. please don't tell me this is pascals wager, you arn't fooling any one. i know jesus he loves me and yes HE LOVES YOU TOO! wether you like it or not, i accept him into my heart AND my home! he always visits me befor i go to bed, we sit on the roof and eat carrots together. so no i repeat NO!!! you will not drag me down that firy path to hell! i will pray every day and nothing you do will distract my cute fingers!!!

If humans lived at the time of the dinosaurs, then surely by now we would have discovered an ancient human fossil (that is over 65 million years old) that lived during the dinosaur reign. But we don't, the oldest human fossil is around 4 million years. How is that possible? And don't say that god (or the devil) tricked us and placing the bones there to make them appear old. If you believe that, then you probably still believe in Santa.

Why is it that some christians say that if a Pastor is asking for money they are fake? Every leader that ask for money is not a fraud or fake! In Malachi chapter 3:7-12 it talks about tithes and offerings. I just want opinions on this matter.
