Organized religions indeed use the term 'faith' as a way of brainwash. You are not wrong. I suppose people just find comfort in the believing in some higher power. It's like a security blanket to them.

Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is, the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Now, I am believing that one day, I will get marry, have children and raise a family. Is that brainwashing, programming or conditioning my mind because I have faith that one day I will be a wife and mother? If we as a people do not have faith then we are all better off dead.

A child has faith that their parent will come home everyday. That they love Him. That they will provide for them. Is this conditioning, programing or brainwashing?

How do they know? Why do they believe? Could it be because of the love they have been shown? That they have seen it demonstrated that they are cared for? Faith in God is no different. To ask one to not believe on these grounds is foolishness.

Faith can not be proven ONLY to those who do not have faith. If you HAVE faith, then you SEE the proof over and over and over. It is like the bible says, God makes foolish the wisdom of the world. It is a paradox. One of MANY paradoxes in the Bible. Yes, the wise people of the world say it can not be proven. But, those who HAVE faith see the truth. It is definitely provable if you have faith. When you have faith, there are NO doubts about conditioning, programming or brainwashing.

Faith is being sure of the things we hope for and belivieving in the things we cannot see. I also have faith in my future and in my family and in my friends, does this also mean I am brainwashed by them? God is there and He will always be there, whether or not you believe in Him. You can no more shut out God than an insane person can shun the light by writing darkness all over the walls.

Brainwashing is a psychological technique used to make someone think black is white and white is black. Several forms of torture are used in order to attain the desired results, and use of drugs, inducing a state of sleeplessness, white noise can all be utilized to this end.

Religious organizations do not use these methods.

Conditioning is not a negative thing. It is used to tame wild things, and can be useful.

Programming suggests a long-term indoctrination, where the subject memorizes tracts of literature, but cannot apply any meaning to it. This is not true of religion either, although I have seen it happen in certain individuals who belong to a religion. However, I have seen this in individuals who work in hospitals.

It puzzles me why non-believers always use the term brainwash when talking about Christians and yet never consider that the brain that is washed, might be theirs!

The world, society, the media...all do a considerable amount of brainwashing!

When people are brainwashed, conditioned or programmed to believe something, their freedom of choice is taken away. When you are presented with the plan for salvation through Jesus Christ, you are free to believe it or reject it. Big difference, huh?
