You would be correct in this assumption. Largely attributed to their mistaking religion for spirituality. The two are very different. You have to feel a bit sorry for them, its the only time in their lives that many other people will actually agree with them.

I can't honestly say that I think religious people are ignorant however I do understand what you may be talking about.

People who allow themselves to get bound up in a particular religion or cult rather than to have a personal relationship with the Creator of the Universe are indeed ignorant and this ignorance has little to do with their IQ.

Some people turn to religion because they are unable to handle life without having something else to back them up. For the true Christian, their devotion to God is like meeting a new best friend. You were reasonably happy before you met Him but now you're completely and totally having a ball.

You can know a tree by its fruit.
More plainly, some very religious people are dumb and some are smart.
I think that God desires for people to seek Him and it may go against the grain, but remember that your experience is going to be limited to these people you're talking about, and maybe they're great, How do I know?
Also, being intelligent is not as important as being a good person. It is good to be intelligent, but if you don't have any character, what good is it?

There is a correlation between intelligence(or at least education) and religiosity. The higher education someone has the less religious they are. Of the general american public about 90 percent believe in a personal god. Within the top scientists this number goes down to less than 20.

Was a atheist for 28 yrs, excellent debater on any topic of religion and how it was fake, Shroud of Turin was my cap stone to this fight. Could make any Christian buckle and become speechless with no answers.

Then I woke up, gained insight, intelligence, education and life experience. Today I fully believe and am a soldier of the Lords. I spread his message in non threatening, non dressed up, laymen and common terminology so anyone of any age can understand.

Just because one says they are a christian or does the walk and talk of a Christian, does not make them a Christian. Do all cops follow the law? Do all judges follow the law? etc etc. Don't judge all by a few bad apples. And for some reason, us Christians have attracted the freak show of bad apples.

how does your mouth taste from regurgitating up the same tired question? change a few words around in the sentence and "poof" it sounds like a new question. religion and intelligence may be slightly related but it does not explain the reason behind your correlation. hypocrisy is all around us. you see it in Christians, Muslims and atheists alike. no one is exempt. finding a new and interesting question is harder to find than a hypocrite.

I think Organized Religion and strong atheists are both unintelligent. They both are closed minded and only see in black and white. Everyone should keep an open mind on the gpd and the univsrse. I would describe myself as spritual agnostic. I beleive there is spirtual truth to the universe, but i dont think ne one knos science or religion

Intelligence only has a minor correlation. What has a better correlation is the amount of education that a person has. The more educated, the more likely you are to be an atheist.
