Contrary to what the other's are saying, Seahorses actually do get pregnant & give birth!!

Typically, it is the male who deposits sperm into a female to fertilize eggs--but with seahorses, the female deposits eggs into the males brood pouch for fertilization. They do the most amazing, beautiful mating ritual--like dancing balerina almost!Once the eggs are fertilized, he carries them to term which is typically 3 weeks for most species of seahorses) (and his pouch gets HUGE) & he goes into "labor" He has contractions, is visibly uncomfortable etc etc....he then gives birth to up to 1,000 babies or fry!

If you don't call that a pregnancy, I don't know what is!

As far as I know, they are the only species where the male actually gets pregnant!

The male does not get pregnant. The male impregnates the female, who lays eggs, which the male then gathers into a unique pouch (not a womb or anything comparable) until they hatch.
