I understand that asking us all to say nice things about one another is well intentioned.....

But why should I try to find common ground with people who think I'm going to hell and want to teach my children their beliefs?

Why should I play nice with a religion that in the nations it is practised in, denies the holocaust of my people, and doesn;t condemn the murder of us...while condemning us for murdering them.

Why should I tolerate, or play nice, with belief systems that aren't tolerant of me?

We (anyone who does not want other religions taught in schools, or put into the laws) are at war with religious fundamentalism here and abroad.

Evolution strikes me as an intelligent design. Isn't it desirable to be constantly improving and evolving. Christians are encouraged to evolve in their faith. Change is a part of life. Nature hates a vacuum. At the beginning of the industrial revolution in England, there was a moth that was white. Over time its wings became black in order to blend in with the soot covered buildings. Evolution in a very short time frame. Not even the smallest of creatures escapes God's attention.

That elemental force that calls from the waves and the shore, and beckons you to a life out on the oceans? The romance of a life spent in faraway ports with the spray in your hair and the callouses of hard work on your hands?

Has it called you?

This is a serious question looking for informed answers- answers not reflecting this are unwelcome.

The question is in this section as the sea can deeply affect the souls of a few.

Thanks!

Buddhists, Christians, Daoists, and, for all I know, most other major religions and philosophies say that you should forgive others for the hurts that are done to you, and forgive yourself for the hurts you have done. Some of these groups even tell you how to live your life that way, at least in the long run.

But when you're wide awake at four in the morning, and all you can think of is the pain you have felt, and the pain you have caused - how do you let it go long enough so that you can go to sleep? How do you force yourself hating at four in the morning, when your mind is racing, and you can't sleep, and you can't forgive?

why do people believe everything about it. Obviously 200 years from now people will be thinking how ridiculous it was to believe humans came from apes.

The God of the Old Testament was always popping up in the world in the form of burning bushes and the like, and suspending His own laws of the universe to perform miracles.

But God is less flamboyant these days. Miracles are of a much quieter, more personal nature which aren't easy to believe in as far as I'm concerned.

This God seems to require faith from his people, but the people of the Old Testament didn't need faith or proof. He was right there with them all the time.

So why the change of heart? Why not be a visible hands-on God again?

Some people think that God will intercede at the time of the apocalypse, but why wait for that?

"But God has his own plan and it's not for us to understand" I don't think this is really an explanation nor even a good excuse.

Would any mother or father stand idly by as their children suffered? They would rightly be arrested for neglect. Would the argument "but I've got a plan which you wont understand" really stand up in court?

All I want you to do is state what you are like Atheist, Agnostic, Christian, Muslim or whatever, and add a little message to someone who isn't of your belief, a NICE little message. The experiment is to see if we can do the impossible and get people from all opposing faiths to come together for one question on Y/A&Q's. Is anyone game? I'll start.

Hi, I'm born again Christian and I just want to say to the Atheists that even though I don't agree with you that there is no God, I admire your conviction in your beliefs and the intellectual thought most of you put into trying to find the truth.

I am ready to leave this earth, I am ready to go. I am going to be homeless in the future, so I might as well make plans to go on to heaven to be with God. There is no reason to be alive.

I am 21 years old, I have no future, I have nothing. I am going to be homeless, I can't find a job, I have no money, so I might well just end it and go on to heaven to be with God.

It is all God fault, he put me on this earth with no reason. Why did God put me here, he won't tell me on earth, so I am going to wait until heaven for him to tell me.

It could have bin a dragon just another one of the Christin fairy tails. More likely a giant dragon fly. It might surprise Christians that man came on the scene not six thousand but more likely six million years ago. That is undeniable fact not theory. So why don't you people adjust your bible a little to fit the facts? Admit some of it had to be symbolic so the uneducated minds who wrote and those it was written far at the time it was written could understand it's basic concept?
