No. Just a silly, shameful threat.
It's interesting to see who would worship a being who'd create a place of eternal torture for his own children, though. Makes you wonder what kinds of things they're doing to their own children, if Hell is their idea of 'love'.

I always though blackmail was more like when you know something about someone and threaten to expose it unless they do a certan thing. The threat of hell is more like taking advantage of people's gulability and it's another way for Christians to fell superiour to other people.
"Ha ha, I'm going to heaven where I'll be high all day, and you're going to Hell where you'll writhe in agony for eternity. You may be having better sex then me now, but it will be I who will have the last laugh."
Kinda immature, but not blackmail.

"Judge not, lest ye be judged." Now the concept of this is not to look at somebody and dog them. You don't know this person, only what you see. So you can misconstrue somebody based on their appearance, not giving them a chance to actually see how that person is inside. (heck, they could be just like you, only with different tastes.) It's like if your in a big circle of friends, and you see, lets say a girl. Now, something disturbs you about that person, ok? And you call her a "****." With your Circle, a reputation starts without her knowledge. So I wouldn't think of "Hell" as blackmail. And what we do in this life, does effect others. No matter how you look at it.

No, it's just the way things are. If you don't believe in Jesus, and don't accept His sacrifice, you can't be with Him. It's not a threat, it's just a truism. Kind of the same thing as, if you commit a crime, and you are judged guilty, you go to jail; do not pass Go, do not collect $200.

Yes considering that it is not a Bible teaching, Hell was just created by the churches to keep their congregations in fear. A loving God would not do such a thing.

We often hear the point that atheists apparently find it harder to live a 'moral' life because they are beholden to no god.
As an atheist myself, I ask in return: Is a life of good not imbued with a great value when lived on it's own merit and not out of a fear of going to hell?

God doesn't threaten to send anyone to hell.
God actually became flesh as Jesus Christ to shed His blood for your sins because that was the only way for eternal beings who are descendants of Adam to be restored to the book of life while they lived in the body before death, to avoid the place of eternal separation from Him.
God is not willing that any man should perish in hell but that they would all choose to repent and be restored to Him before they die.

No, its not because we all go through our own personal hell when we know or realise we have done something against our nature. Its ok to promote it to teach children our moral codes in society. But as to it being a 'reality' I think not.

How is it blackmail? You don't want to be with God and so you won't be with God for all eternity. You are getting your wish by being with the one who didn't want to be with God either.
