I mean I know people are going to say the bible is proof. but the bible was written by men and men dont always tell the truth so they may have lied to make him more than he really was. and The bible was written ex-post-facto. (after the fact) after he was dead for centries. so would peoples minds get a little fuszy as to how things really were?

Imagine a televised marathon. X, the peoples favourite, is an extrovert and a superb athelete who wins every race and has a dominating character; X wins this marathon too, in record time and minutes head of everyone else, smiling and waving as they cross the line to raptuous applause with barely a raised heartbeat.

Y is an office worker just running the marathon to see if they can. And they do, crossing the line last, over an hour behind everyone else, when the crowds have gone and the cameras are packing up. They have a red face and are breathing hard, half crippled by the effort and with nobody waiting at the finishing line to see their achievement, as they plodded along without giving up the whole way. They wanted to see if they had it in them, and they did.

Who is your champion, and why?

Thanks!

This is an explanation and not an answer. As early as 1950 I studied in a church-run College and I observed that something was rotten in the state of Denmark on moral platform. Among students were many deacons and young priests who were frustrated on denial of marriage. Many of these were offerings to God at their tender age by faith-misled parents. A friend of mine received a beautiful love letter from a Nun expressing her dejection and her desire to marry him. The person expired soon on snakebite. I still wail for both the departed and the living. Denial of conjugal rights is denial of human rights and the effective application of God-gifted human reproductive system. To me it is thus a violation of the very concept of Nature. . Where physical urge overtakes moral restrictions, violation takes place and guilt sets in. On whom do you fix the crime for this chaotic state of moral slavery?

I know we are saved by grace though faith and not by any works that we should boast of! BUT, if we do not works then we can't do that alone. Because as Paul says in romans...'Faith without works is dead'!! And as Jesus says, if oyu love me keep my commandments....So where you draw the line between legalism and being saved by Grace??

I received many answers to my last question telling me that I don't NEED to obey the will of God. So... if I never obey his will (since there's no NEED to do so), God won't hold it again me, will he?

Here's the question, by the way:

Please do not bash the SDA, just tell the truth. I am asking this question because a neighbor friend of mine recently became involved in the SDA and thinks she is now a Christian. However, when she found out about my Christian beliefs, they offended her greatly and has consistently presented me with strange, unchristian beliefs that I did not know that the SDA had. I do not know if this is what they all believe, or if this is a branch from them, like the Branch Davidians or something. Frankly I am afraid to find out much about them because they appear to share some beliefs that I have seen in some occultic religions, and because I want to stay far away from any cults.

I am aware of the difference between the definitions of a cult and the occult. I am also very much aware of what mainstream Christianity believes and what the Word of God says. I just need to know about the SDA, thanks.

I have a problem believing in God. I see the story of God as a myth that has been told for thousands of years. I mean, parents tell their kids bedtime stories to make them feel secure right? Dont you think people did the same with this story? And how about Santa? People will still be telling that garbage in 2000 years. Are people going to believe that is true also? Santa started as a normal man and grew into a huge deal. He never "had reighndeer" and had a big red suit. That story just snowballed. And if you are naughty you wont get presents? Please. We all have done bad things and we still have a pile under the tree every year, dont we? Does no one see the resemblance?

Why is it that god is nature when it comes to the splendor and intricacy of things like DNA, galaxies and the human brain, but he's NOT nature when it comes to natural disasters like earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunamis?

Why is it that when innocent children die of horrible diseases, it's god's way of teaching the families lessons about overcoming obstacles, but when humans cure a disease with a vaccine, it's just human ingenuity combating the process of nature?

Why did god create intelligent human beings that can understand cause & effect, but then make all interactions with him totally random (ex. some prayers are answered, some are not, some devoutly religious people "experience" god, others do not.)

Why does god allow hundreds of thousands of people to be innocently misled their entire lives by charlatans who dispense a warped or false version of his message?

Why does god allow new souls to be conceived in places that can never receive his message (ex. Amazon jungle, Tibet?)

My friend's dog and loved family pet was shot today by a neighbor's .22 and has some nerve damage in the shoulder of his left leg. The doctors are keeping him for observation, but said if he doesn't try to use the leg in the next 24 hours, they will amputate it.

I'm asking that all animal lovers and believers pray for him. I myself fell from grace years ago, but am still praying because there is strength in prayer.

Why do Jehovas witness Buildings have no windows. I mean if your religion wanted to shine its message and glory to the world and wanted to draw in newcomers, wouldn't you want to seem more open and inviting instead of having a closed in fort?

Can we get a whole group of people involved to throw some major doubt on these things and to get people to believe that they're just a belief system? I was hoping to employ the Intelligent Designers because they look like they've been successful at swaying the dentally challenged.

Even if I'm more on the christian side, it is still hard for me to accept the religion, because it is still causing harm, and denies other people's believes.

Ex-Christians: Was God making you his slave or simply protecting you from that which you do not know?

Is freedom defined as "doing what you want, when you want to"?

Are "Do what feels good" and "If it feels good, it's right" good morals to live by?

It's not necessarily God's job to convince you of his existence, neither can you criticize him as you have done with your assumption that God is like a parent.

I disagree entirely. God is known as the "Father" and he did create man in his image, apparently. He has laid down laws for people to worship and obey him as a father too. So I have every right to critisize him as a parent!

Is it Gods job to prove his existence? My previous question simply stated that in the Old Testament God was always visibly around, but he isn't anymore. You don't see burning bushes talking to people do you, seas parted, or mana falling from the heavens for the starving people of Africa!

I don't ask for God to prove his existence, I simply state a "fact" that God moves in a very different way to that stated in the Old Testament. Why is this so?

I find that these scientific theories threaten my religious theology and am hoping to disparage them (first by confusing the layman's use of 'theory' with the scientific one) and then by having thousands of books written based on partial truths to discredit them. I figured it works for evolution, why leave these things out of the mix?
