Sadly, by those who do not know, or make any real effort to know, what we believe. People fear things that might make them move from their comfort zone. Latter-day Saints are just such a people. We preach the restored gospel of Jesus Christ (the one and only Jesus Christ, not "another" or a "different" Jesus).

Believing in Jesus isn't enough to make your denomination biblically sound.Mormons believe that God used to be a man on another planet,He has a goddess wife,He
has an actual flesh-and-bones body,He and His wife have spirit children,Jesus and Lucifer are brothers,Jesus married and had children, all people have the potential to
become gods and in order to reach this exalted state of godhood, a person must first
worthy. They believe in baptism for the dead, celestial marriage, and when you reach a god status, you inherit your own planet to control.
It denies essential biblical doctrine, and thus cannot be considered Christian.
I have nothing against Mormons. They are great people, and very sincere and helpful. But we are told in scripture (Acts 7:11,2 Timothy 2:15,1 Thessalonians 5:21) to test and see whether teaching follows the Bible, which Mormonism doesn't.

For starters, Mormons themselves say that they are different than the rest of the Christians (they teach that all other Christins but them have abandoned the faith). So we take their word for it that we are not like them.
They also differ from mainstream Christian denominations on many points. For example, they reject the doctrine of the trinity, and believe in multiple gods instead. And they believe that men can evolve into a god. And they think that God was once a man from another planet. And so on.
And they have their own holy books that mainsteam Christians do not accept.

IMO, it's because they (Mormons) have the book of Mormons and Christians don't reconize it as the word of God. It was written in 1800 or so, to this date there have been found over 4000 mistakes in the book of Mormon, it's urthur claimed it was the most "perfect" book ever written, he also had several wives....you decide

These are some of the reasons.
The Bible and Mormon Writings—A Study in Contrasts
Bible: Although the exact site is unknown, the garden of Eden was probably in the Mesopotamian region by the Euphrates River.—Genesis 2:11-14.
Doctrine and Covenants: Garden of Eden was in Jackson County, Missouri, U.S.A.—Doctrine and Covenants 57, as explained by President J. F. Smith.
Bible: The soul dies.—Ezekiel 18:4; Acts 3:23.
The Book of Mormon: “The soul could never die.”—Alma 42:9.
Bible: Jesus was born in Bethlehem.—Matthew 2:1-6.
The Book of Mormon: Jesus was to be born in Jerusalem.—Alma 7:10.
Bible: Jesus was begotten by holy spirit.—Matthew 1:20.
Journal of Discourses: Jesus was not begotten by holy spirit. He was begotten in the flesh by Adam’s having intercourse with Mary.—Journal of Discourses, Volume I, pages 50-1.
Bible: New Jerusalem to be in heaven.—Revelation 21:2.
The Book of Mormon: New Jerusalem, earthly, to be built by men in Missouri, U.S.A.—3 Nephi 21:23, 24; Doctrine and Covenants 84:3, 4.
Bible: Writers of the Bible were inspired to write God’s thoughts.—2 Peter 1:20, 21.
The Book of Mormon: Its prophets are said to have written according to their own knowledge.—1 Nephi 1:2, 3; Jacob 7:26.
Bible: Mosaic Law, including tithing, terminated by the death of Jesus. Contributions are to be voluntary, not under compulsion.—2 Corinthians 9:7; Galatians 3:10-13, 24, 25; Ephesians 2:15.
Doctrine and Covenants: “Verily it is . . . a day for the tithing of my people; for he that is tithed shall not be burned (at his [the Lord’s] coming).”—Doctrine and Covenants 64:23.
And many many more.

Because they are a cult, meaning that they add to the teachings that are in the Bible and add another testament that they say supersedes the Word of God, which they call the Book of Mormons, which has been proven to be strewn with falsehoods and inconsistencies. Plus they believe that Jesus is not the Son of God as far as being the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY!

Mormons are Christians and those who don't think so are ignorant and don't have the facts. The Mormon religion is sometimes too much for people to take but if one really looked into it, they would see it has value. Look at a Mormon's morals and that is all you will need to see.
