Why don't you ask Him, instead of Yahoo Q&A you definitely may not get the answer you want, but it would be more authentic, however the suffering that is in the world is due to man's sinful condition and man's continually lust for more, so suffering continues to increase, Christians however are the salt and light of the world and have the power by faith in God to destroy the devils works and so destroy and stop much suffering that is being done. If Christians wont be the Light of the world then darkness prevails, and suffering continues.

God allows bad things to happen to good people because He allows bad people. Would you advocate that He destroy all bad people and only leave good people on the earth?

It is something like what George Burns said in Oh God.

He said you cannot have a top without a bottom for what would you need a top for if their were no bottom.

He said you cannot have an in without an out, for how would you know you were out if there were no in.

He said you cannot have good without evil, for how would you know good was good, if you never knew evil.

So God created men, and some chose to be good and some chose to be evil. God does not intervene in every act of the evil doer. Evil doers tend to prey upon good people, they are so much easier targets than evil people.

God said He would not destroy the earth again with flood, that was part of a covenant God made with Noah. He did not say that He would not bring natural disasters to specific areas to destroy either bad people or the things that bad people own and hold dear.

Why is there evil and suffering in the world?
The question implies that if a good God exists, then evil shouldn't because God, being all powerful, should stop it.
We need to ask and answer two questions. First, what is evil? It is that which is against God. It is anything morally bad or wrong. It is injurious, depraved, wicked. Some acceptable examples might be murder, rape, stealing, lying, and cheating. Second, if we want God to stop evil, do we want Him to stop all evil, or just some of it? In other words, if just some of it, then why? If He were to stop only part of the evil, then we would still be asking the question, "Why is there evil in the world?"
Let's suppose that someone was about to commit murder. God would have to stop him, maybe whisper in his ear, or if that didn't work, do something a little more drastic, like have something fall on him, or stop his heart, or make his hands suddenly fall off. Anyway, God would have to do something.
What if somebody wanted to steal? God would have to stop him too, right? Undoubtedly, God's imagination would permit a more practical method than I have suggested, but the end results would be the same.
What about lying? If someone were to tell a lie, then to be consistent wouldn't you want God right there to stop that person from lying? After all, He couldn't let any evil occur, could He?
Let's take it a step further. Suppose someone thought something evil. Then, of course, God would have to step in and prevent him from thinking anything bad at all, right? The end result would be that God could not allow anyone to think freely. Since everyone thinks, and no one thinks only pure thoughts, God would be pretty busy, and we wouldn't be able to think. Anyway, at what point do we stop - at the murder level, stealing level, lying level, or thinking level? As your question implies, if you want God to stop evil, you would have to be consistent and want Him to do it everywhere all the time, not just pick and choose. It wouldn't work.
Evil is in this world partly because we give it its place but ultimately because God, in His sovereignty, permits it and keeps it under His control.
Then you might say, "Couldn't He just make us perfect and that way we wouldn't sin?" He already did that. He made a perfect angel, Satan, but he sinned. He made a perfect man, Adam, and he sinned. He made a perfect woman, Eve, and she sinned. God knows what He is doing. He made us the way we are for a purpose. We don't fully understand that purpose, but He does.
God is sovereign; He has the right to do as He wishes. He has the right to permit evil for accomplishing His ultimate will. How can He do that? Simple, look at the Cross. It was by evil means that men lied and crucified Jesus. Yet God in His infinite wisdom used this evil for good. It was on the Cross that Jesus bore our sins in His body (1 Peter. 2:24) and it is because of the Cross that we have forgiveness of sins.
Consider the biblical example of Joseph in the Old Testament. He was sold into slavery by his brothers. Though they meant it for evil, God meant it for good (Gen. 50:20). God is so great that nothing happens without His permission, and in that permission His ultimate plan unfolds. In His plan He is able to use for good what man intends for evil. God is in control.

Well, A.P., my view of God involves a being who is a benevolent being who does not intervene in daily events but is masterful over some of the most significant moments in individual lives...so I believe that a lot of the suffering created in the world is man-made..and if it has been manifested by the hands of humans, it can be undone...we have the power supplied by god to change our circumstances and our world...good question

God is a gentle God. He does not rape, nor does He force us to make decisions. He loves His people so much that He gives them "FREE WILL". We have the choice to do what is right or wrong, however, unfortunately, some of us are suffering because of generational bad choices that gets passed down to the innocent. Please don't make the mistake of blaming God for ALL things. Yes, He can stop anything He chooses, but remember, we can make that choice also.

Which would you prefer my friend, force someone to "lust" you (because it wouldn't be love), or prefer they get to know what a wonderful person you are, and love you just the way you are? This is God's way. Choice! That's what it's all about.

Remember, there is a "spiritual war" that goes on for souls. As in a natural war innocent people die, or get wounded.

Also, I see you said "God is all powerful" . May I help you understand that Satan worshipers call him god. The word god is used very general. Whatever you turn to for comfort and direction can become a "god". I turn to Jesus Christ, as God, because He and his teachings helped me through multiple rapes. There is only one God, capital "G", but many gods, small "g".

God Bless you my friend, JESUS LOVES! John chapter one may help you understand who He is.! YOU ARE SPECIAL!! THERE IS HOPE!!

The fall of man(sin) is why bad 'things" happen in the world. God is just that, all powerful, and He chose to give man free will instead of making man do whatever God wanted. it makes our relationship with Him so personal. We choose to sin, and sin leads to death-simply put. Suffering can be caused by something "dying" in your life too-relationships dying, talents, success...

a man was given the "free will" by God. look around you and what does a man do to exercise that free will. we, as human beings have a "choice" between right and wrong. if all man will choose what is right.... this world will be a better place to live in. a man suffers from it's own fooloshness. we have the choice.... is it "love" or "hate". if it's love, there will be peace. if it's hate, war and chaos will never end....
