Superman and his father have the same last name - El, which means "God" in Hebrew.
The original first names for Superman's parents were Mary and Joseph.
The villain Lex Luther sounds much like Lucifer of the Bible.
Superman and Jesus both experience death, resurrection and a return, or second coming.

Jesus was a "superman". Blessed be Your Name!

One day a group of scientists got together and decided that man had come a long way and no longer needed God. So they picked one scientist to go and tell Him that they were done with Him.

The scientist walked up to God and said, "God, we've decided that we no longer need you. We're to the point that we can clone people and do many miraculous things, so why don't you just go on and get lost."

God listened very patiently and kindly to the man. After the scientist was done talking, God said, "Very well, how about this?

Let's say we have a man-making contest." To which the scientist replied, "Okay, great!"

But God added, "Now, we're going to do this just like I did back in the old days with Adam."

The scientist said, "Sure, no problem" and bent down and grabbed himself a handful of dirt.

God looked at him and said, "Oh No You Don't! Get your own dirt!"

This question is for Catholics. Why do you praise Mary so much if God said that only He should be praised. Isnt having little statues and paintings of Mother Mary worshipping idols which is exactly what God blaitently told people not to do? And who do you believe is more worthy of worship, Jesus, the son of God, the Saviour or Mary, a normal human being?

This was found in my parents' house, but it isn't theirs:

On one side, there is a bearded figure (probably a saint, perhaps St. Benedict) holding a cross in one hand and an open book (Bible?) on the other arm. Text around the edge:
EIVS IN OBITV NRO PRAE SENTIA MVNIAMVR
There are dots between the words. Left of the Saint:
CRVX
S PA
TRIS
(Again, dots between the words) Right of the Saint:
BEN
EDIC
TI
Under the Saint:
EX S.M. CASINO
MDCCCLXXX (maybe an I after this)
(Obviously 1880 or 1881)

On the other side around the edge:
S-M-Q-L-I-V-B
PAX
V-R-S-N-S-M-V

There is a cross in the middle which reads horizontally:
ND S MD
and vertically:
CSSML

There are four letters in circles in the quadrants around the cross:
Upper left: C
Upper right: S
Lower left: P
Lower right: B

Thanks for your help!

I am a Catholic, and I believe in both evolution and intelligent design, so I am not trying to doubt evolution, just understand it.

Why do humans have a 25 hour Circadian rhythm? You would think that after being on this planet for thousands of years, we would develop a shorter Circadian rhythm to coincide with the 24hr rotation of the Earth. Yet, our rhythm is closer to 25 hours.

A scientist tested this once by living underground for over six months. When she came out, she thought the date was, I believe, almost a month before the actual date (due to her losing an hour every day)

So what could explain this odd trait?

I don't care if you are sure you're going to one place or another, I'm just wondering what's the best thing and the worst thing you've ever done in your opinion. What are you proud of and what haunts you?

(personally, I don't believe in hell, and am not so sure about heaven)

Have you been involved in a church or Christian organization where the people did not act like they were following in Jesus footsteps? (aside from normal mistakes we make as humans) Or one that was spiritually abusive?

ie, did not do things like defend the poor, challenge people to love others, heal the sick, teach with humility, care more about others than self, etc?

What effect did it have on you and your faith?

preach the True Gospel?

There are several "tribulation" periods spoken of in the Bible. The first is when Jacob had to leave Canaan to go down to Egypt--there was a great famine in the land. The second "tribulation" is when Babylon destroyed Judah, Jerusalem (and the Temple) and took some of the people into captivity for 70 years.

As for the churches, we read in Revelation 2 + 3 that God was telling them to repent because they were departing from the truth and that was about 95 A.D.--just 60 years after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Take a look at 2 Thesalonians 2.

I really would like to understand your side of the Evolution vs. Creation debate. However, since I come from a dairy farm background, I have always wanted to know something...An instant 10 points to the person who can explain this in a sensible manner and not just blow it off:
A cow uses teats to feed her calf. Now, I am supposed to assume that teats had to "evolve" on cows and other animals just like any other appendage.
Question: Since evolution could not happen overnight, how could offspring survive if they had to stand around and wait for teats to evolve? I can tell you from experience, that would sure put a crimp in animal life on this planet today. Yet here we are in all our glory...with teats! Hello///
