Been to Church that wasn't Christ-like?

Question

Have you been involved in a church or Christian organization where the people did not act like they were following in Jesus footsteps? (aside from normal mistakes we make as humans) Or one that was spiritually abusive?

ie, did not do things like defend the poor, challenge people to love others, heal the sick, teach with humility, care more about others than self, etc?

What effect did it have on you and your faith?

Our Bible tell us to beward of people like that you know God's people by the way they act. Yes I think almost everyone in the Christian life have when through some type of experiece in that afact. But don't let that stop your true faith because God holds people to the thing they do. just asure you they will be taken care of. But you seem to know the Bible study your word and God will lead you in to what to do.

I think all churches are like that. And yes, I've been in them. No church is perfect, unfortunately. It didn't necessarily affect my faith, but it dissapointed me that church members would act like that. And I know that, like you said, that we're all humans and can't be perfect like Christ. But it is kinda discouraging to see people go seriously against the Bible and the church's constitution. The best you can do is pray for them that they'll do better and be the best example you can be for those people.

No. Not really. I've seen groups that tried harder than others - but - in general I think I've seen mostly groups that are making a good go at becoming Christlike.

i was in a cult for awhile where they tried but didnt know they were teaching lies....IM still a CHristian...Now Methodist again since 96!

All of the preachers usually have such nice suits, just like Jesus must have worn.
