First of all, you've obviously gone to the wrong Christian churches because the ones I go to preach the whole Bible.

Some Bibles are free because of donations. It costs money to make but they use some of the offerings to buy and distribute Bibles. I guess they don't do the same for the Torah's.

There are a couple of reasons:

1. Torahs can't be made cheaply. Because of Jewish law, a Torah must be made on cowhide and written by hand. Also, if a mistake is made, the writer must start over again. As you can imagine, Torahs can't be mass produced and if they could, the price wouldn't justify giving them away.

2. Bibles are given away to encourage either conversion to Christianity or increased faith. Either way, the reason wouldn't satisfy Jews. People can convert to Judaism if they want, but nobody's supposed to persuade people to do so. After all, everybody's entitled to free will. Besides, conversion is difficult in Judaism, so just giving away Torahs would convert nobody.
The other motive for giving out Bibles, as I previously mentioned is to increase faith. However, Judaism is an existential religion, meaning that actions, not faith are what's important.

As you can see, giving out free Torahs would be pointless and wasteful. If anyone wants a Torah, but doesn't want pay, he/she can always go to a synagogue to read the Torah. (I'm sure that if you put the word "Torah" into an online search engine you'll get online versions of the Torah there too.)

Because
1) Judaism is not a proselytizing religion (doesn't seek converts)
2) Torahs are very expensive. Scrolls cost at least a few thousand dollars because they are handwritten in Hebrew using a certain way of writing, and there can be absolutely no mistakes. It takes a very long time and it has to be a "kosher" copy. Books are usually printed with the Hebrew and English and some commentary, so naturally they cost much more than a Bible.
3) If you still want a Torah for free, you can go here (it's in English) http://www.chabad.org/library/article.asp?AID=6288
That's just the Torah. On the right side you will see links labeled Nevi'im (prophets) and Ktuvim (writings). Prophets contains the works of the prophets such as Isaiah and everyone, and writings consists of things like Psalms. All are translated from the original Hebrew.

Peace

Many Christian organizations give away free Bibles over an interest in promulgating the doctrines. However, it does cost money to produce these Bibles, so when they are giving them away, it represents an expense. Perhaps in the Jewish faith, there is less of a motivation to promulgate the doctrines of the Torah. Judaism has a hereditary component that is much less pronounced than Christianity.

No Christ just isn't pronouncing that the living God didn't write the legislation.. We all know he used Moses to address it to the folks of God as his messenger. Again then persons were making excuses as to why they desired to divorce.. Some had divorced simply to sleep with any person else which used to be now not the grounds to divorce any person. Christ failed to put off the legislation but introduced a better working out of it which the people lacked. As you see during roman history everyone was once fornicating with one yet another morals weren't there and Christ wanted and did deliver a greater view for the grounds of marriage. Persons aren't think to divorce for foolish factors equivalent to leaving their wife to move sleep with another.. It's immoral due to the fact that the intentions of the individual trying the divorce is to have interaction in sexually pleasure.. Lust.. Instead than the union that's consider to be pure within the eyes of God.

Jews don't proselytize, which Christians do. If you are interested enough to learn about Judaism, you can find a Torah to read. Also, Torah scrolls are hand-copied, made from kidskin (I believe), so they're incredibly sacred and expensive. We're not just going to give THOSE away!

Andrew which is it.. you not a Christian or you are a Christian? Your first paragraph says "(i'm not a christian)"; added note says, "i'm a Christ Follower". Which are you???

You sound very very confused and we know confusion does not come from God.

I wish all Bibles (those that Christians use) would be free for all. There should NEVER be one Bible , the Word of God, with a price tag on it.

I would love to challenge every one that "sales" Bibles, to give them away free from this day forth. No one should line their pockets from selling God's Holy Word, the Holy Bible.

As to why, because Judaism is not a religion that encourages converts (and some branches of it do not allow converts).

If you want to read it try the first link.

If you want to study it, try the home site of the first link or the second link.

They are given free to the congregations but they were bought and paid by donors and patrons. You may find Torah also being given by a friend who may like to give it to you but there is no written book that really is given free by the printer/s. It takes money to produce one and it needs money to continue printing.
