What is the main difference between pentecoste and baptist faiths? My boyfriend is pentecostal and i am baptist. I am going with him to his church on Sunday. I know that they speak in tongues... What else should I expect? I would prefer an answer from someone of the pentecostal faith!
Thanks in advance!

There is a book you can read that explores that very question. "Why We Believe What We Believe," by Newberg and Waldman.

May I suggest you read it?

I visited a clinical hypnotist as part of a project our class was doing, and it turned out he read auras. I'm usually skeptical of such things but through aura reading he was able to pinpoint my state of mind, and aspects of my personality that take a while for people to understand. He was also able to see "trouble spots" that may be indicative of health problems (I do get stabbing pains in my side, but I digress...). He saw auras as colors, each representing something different about me.

I'm not sure if I can see auras myself, sometimes I feel I can, and sometimes I can't. When I do, it's very faint and almost gossamer in its appearance, yet dynamic. When I am meditating it seems like my aura increases.

I'm willing to concede that maybe it's all in my head, and maybe my eyesight needs some checking, but if anyone can see auras, is it anything like that?

have a clue as to where she should start. I told her that since there are so many religions to choose from she should just pick one and see if it works out.
Was I correct in telling her that, and if I wasn't what would you suggest she should do?

The Christian/ Catholic religion has been molesting kids, mostly boys for thousands of years. Apparently this is ok with its followers.

What if God decided not to make the universe, earth, people or anything. We wouldnt be here. Nothing would be here. We wouldnt have lives, nothing would ever happen...EVER. Do you ever ponder that? Isnt God amazing though. He decided to make us. But, just ponder that thought.

He created us with a sinful nature, gave us free will and then left us to destroy each other, and then tries to convince us it's our own fault. Why?

Grey's Anatomy star Isaiah Washington has entered a residential treatment facility in an effort to quell the controversy surrounding his anti-gay remarks - and save his job. He was told by ABC to enter the program to examine why he would say such words.

Anti-Gay therapy? Is it just me or is this just plain silly? Trust me when I say that I'm against "Hate" and "Prejudice" of all forms, but to be ordered by your employer to attend medical treatment for saying a comment is a bit overkill.

Should this sort of action be taken everytime a hateful comment is made about the President? How about when an Atheist makes a derogatory remark about God?

Before anyone says it...No I am not a Bigot. I respect all of God's children. The question...Do you think this therapy is appropriate? If you do then should it be applied to everyone who makes a Hateful comment?

Now someone i met over the net said to me that they smoke and has 2 kids and divorced, now she says that god does not mind her smoking because he does not judge people and that god told her that. i inturn asked her if she was sure it was the voice of god and not the devil, she said that god told her there is no such thing as the devil , and that man just made him up. i told her, that god loves her and would never accept that she is killing herself.

now please, no wise cracks about this lady, i very much dought she is mentally insane, just confused, a lot. and clearly sad about something else she would not be smoking, so the question is , do u agree with what she was telling me? and if yes/no please say why.

If you are experiencing something, you can't be objective.

If you are experiencing deity (Christian, Wiccan, whatever), how can you know that what you are experiencing is truly spiritual, and not psychological?

If one says simply "I know", then the same mind that had the experience is that doing the judgement. There can be no legitimate confirmation. Expecting a feeling often causes that feeling to occur.

Can one simply accept that religious experiences are purely subjective? Is it right to say that one has "proof" when subjective analysis is the only means of quantification?

What level of proof is required to make something real?

God set out lots of rules and regulations, paticulary, but not limited to the ones in Leviticus. Now it is my understanding that these rules were "fulfilled" by the coming of Jesus. So my question is, is that mean all of the rules don't matter anymore........or maybe not all of them, but some of them, and if some of them how do you know what to choose. I mean "thou shall not murder" easy enough, but "kill adulters" uhhhh not so cut and dry there, so should we just scrap all of God's rules in the O.T. and focus solely on Jesus' teachings. But wait:

Numbers 23:19
God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?

God never changes his mind? Okay I'm lost again, didn't God change his mind by coming down as Jesus and "fulfilling" the old rules. I'm confused, please help.
