I"m a big fan of David Crowder band. I"m catholic and I often wonder if I should listen to this kind of music. After all, David C isn"t catholic, but his messages are most illuminating. What do you think I should do?

Thankfully, the time of banned music and books is in the past. If you find the music to your liking and it isn't going to somehow lead you to evil (don't ask me how), then I say go for it and listen!

I often use Christian yet non-Catholic music in Sunday mass. Some favorite composers of "American Catholic" music aren't Catholic, and some Catholic composers' works are used in Protestant churches.

you're correct the band isn't Catholic but they are catholic. you need to realize that Christianity is all encompassing and your Catholic denomnation is a way togrow in your christianity. i am Catholic and listen to a variety of various Christian rock, rap, country - you name it and it's okay - i promise. i was first introduced to christian music when i moved to the south and the Newsboys were my favorite. i've then come to listen to a variety of christian music artists and styles. gracious didn't you see the movie Sister Act - in that one they took Motown and turned it into praise and worship --
see that's the thing - make a joyful noise unto the Lord - praise Him with singing and dancing - gonging cymbals..... as long as it's music that helps you worship and glorify the Lord -- then "rock on"!!!

I used to be Catholic (18 years), so I will take liberty in answering this question. To answer this question for you, you need to answer two questions yourself...

1) Does the DC Band bring glory to Christ? (absolutely)

2) If the Catholic Church would tell you not to listen to something that would bring glory to Christ, would you submit to the Catholic Church or to Christ? (your turn)

I am personally a reborn, evangelical Christian of 3 years now. There is one thing that is crystal clear in the bible and that is to honor and bring glory to our God and Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I guess the most important question that should be on your heart is, are you choosing to honor God by obeying what is found in the bible or are you choosing to obey what has been ordained as heresy by man without consulting the Word of God.

P.S. - If you haven't seen the movie "Luther" rent it. :)

I think you should wrap your upper torso in barbed wire, walk around with sharp rocks in your shoes, and beg for God's forgiveness. If you still feel guilty for listening to David Crowder after all that try lye in your eyes. Do you want to be punished now?

I think that your religious fellows would tell you to pursue whatever helps you live spiritually that doesn't harm others. Finding spirituality in the world as a whole is a good thing. It isn't just in some religion.
