The truth.

Maybe the wrong religion ! A lot of the religions are good at filling people full of garbage that has nothing to do with Truth of the Bible. No wonder so many have give up on Jesus with all the crap some of those Churches try to get people to believe.

Jesus even warns about the false ones that lead people astray.

You just got involved with the wrong group. One must search out the true Religion with Bible in hand and Jesus at there side by praying to seek out the true Church that follows Jesus and teaches strictly from the Bible and holds the Bible as there only Creed.

I gave up on God right after I gave up on Santa.... It doesn't take a matured mind to see that the two are equally fake.

What was I in love with...? Goodness knows, playing "Cowboys and Indians" comes to mind, but I'm certain that love for my family came in there somewhere, too... I can't truly say that I had any real love for either Santa or God, per se. They were just a way to wish for the things that I didn't have any better way to get... and my wishes and prayers all went unanswered, of course.

Oh yeah, I loved my dog, too. I could always count on her to be near-by.

POST SCRIPT to johnocrea...: You're right about the constant feud atmosphere between Atheists and God-believers, (all of them and not just Christians - lets not skip lightly over Allah. He's a big fake, too.) You're pretty far off base, however, about Atheists having doubts... There is no God, johnocrea, and that's the truth.

The truth? Life? My own knowledge? I don't see the point in using "God" or religion as a safety blanket to feel okay about hardships, the unknown, dying, etc. Throughout time, humans have created gods to take the place where science is lacking. We are, fortunately, progressing past the necessity of this nonsense.

Theists want to believe that giving homage to a God will provide them with "spiritual security"--ignoring the fact that most theists disagree on just about everything-hence the enormous number of denominations in each religion--However the only real security is the knowledge that there is no such thing as "spiritual security"--because it ensures that you can never be conned again.

ex-thiests were in love with the concept, the idea that there was a higher power to protect us.
I say hooray for all the enlightened atheists and anti-theists. Your lives are much happier without the lie of God aren't they?

The devil likes to torment us, in making us believe that God is the reason for our problems, but our problems are our own, when we stray from God we are saying "God, I don't need you right now" and then something bad happens and we blame Him saying "Whyd this have to happen to me why did You allow it to happen?" If you believe you were in love with God, then you will never fully be a true athiest who hates God fully, and If you were a true athiest you wouldn't be asking this question, you simply wouldn't care.

I used to an Atheist and then I met my wife and I got weak. She turned my ways around. Somehow a woman that looks fine as hell has a way to turn a guy around in his ways

I can't help but observe that you religious folks are always on about atheists. And the atheists are always on about religious folks. Why is that?

Couldn't be that you both have doubts and that each of you attacking the other makes you feel as if your side is "right," could it?

Watch out for certainty. It's sneaky.

People should respect the decisions of others. And I think your question could be toned better.

People are in love with what is the truth, but the truth about god is in question.
