In the 2000 years since Jesus died, Christians have:
Beheaded, burnt at the stake, hanged, murdered, waged war and indiscriminately slaughtered men, women and children even as they waved the white flag of surrender!
In the “Name of God”, Christians have:
Stretched bodies on the rack, hung bodies from their limbs, made people think they were drowning by torturing with water, physically mutilated both living and dead as well as sexually mutilating dead women and raping the living.

Believing it was God’s will, Christians have:

Flogged, robbed, burnt homes, driven peoples from their lands, taken children from their parents, split families and sold into slavery both professing Christians as well as pagans.

While proclaiming to be Christians, they have:

Repressed, ridiculed, kept illiterate and in poverty, enslaved, worked to death, starved, initiated hate crimes, terrorized, imprisoned and perverted justice.

I mean this with all respect but it is called Religion and Spritiuality two thing in which you claim not to believe in. If so why are you here. I mean there is a section for gardening on YA but I never go there becuase I don't garden. Other then to offer random insult to the religious (of any religion) why are you here?

Some Churches have ordained openly gay clergy living in openly gay unions. Soddom and Gomorah were destroyed because of this, how could they have finnangled this for people to actually think it is o.k. now?

I have recently moved to Canada from Europe. In Europe the churches are always open and you can go in and visit them on your own time. Here, I find the doors are always closed. How can I visit and spend time in a church like I used to in Europe? I am not religious, but spiritual (and considered Catholic), and would not want to attend mass with others. I would like to spend some time in a church alone. How do churches work in Canada?

Why would God create something he knew would turn on him? Did he Mr. Oh-so-wonderful-&-Perfect make a mistake? I started going to church awhile back and I am confused about all the rules. The missionaires came and did the lessons and I was baptized, and I have been going to church. However, I do not understand the rules about what to do on Sundays, media, etc. I have been finding out by doing things the church doesn't support and having people judge me or my children. I am about ready to throw in the towel and say never mind to this whole thing.

I was traveling in Wales and was in the back of a landrover and was thinking about something good.
Then I realised something amazing, that was so amazing that it gave me one hell of a shock. It made me jump.
Then I can recall about 3 minutes later, getting tingling all over my
body which turned to full blown parathesia.
I started uncontrolable crying, even though I was not upset; it just happened for no reason. There was no fear either.
I started to go all faint and then this episode passed about 10 minutes later.

I have no memory of what I thought of that was so pleasurable to make me go into a state of shock like that.

What do you think it was?

I am so confused when it comes to the Trinity. I understand there is God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit but I do not understand how it is one and if they are three different things then wouldn't Christianity be considered a polytheistic religion.

What do I mean? What would happen if you told them the truth??
If they did n't find out, would it be more cruel to tell them or not to tell them. What would be the answer for non-kosher/non-halal meat? Would they have to serve a pennance or something?

Jehovah tells Adam & Eve that they are not to eat of the Tree of Knowledge of good & evil. If they do, Jehovah tells them "for IN THE DAY that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."

The serpent tells Eve "Ye shall not surely die. For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil."

As soon as Adam & Eve ate from the tree we are told that their eyes were opened. Jehovah says "Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil"

So, in the day that Adam & Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge, they did NOT die, their eyes were opened, and they had become as gods, knowing good and evil.

The passage states "in the day" they shall surely die, not that the process of death would start.

Jehovah banishes Adam & Eve from the garden, not because of original sin, but because he did not want them to eat from the Tree of Life and live forever. Suggesting that they were already in a state of dying.
