I started going to church awhile back and I am confused about all the rules. The missionaires came and did the lessons and I was baptized, and I have been going to church. However, I do not understand the rules about what to do on Sundays, media, etc. I have been finding out by doing things the church doesn't support and having people judge me or my children. I am about ready to throw in the towel and say never mind to this whole thing.

It doesn't help to tell me I screwed up and need to repent because shortly after joining, I took the kids out to eat after church or washed my car on Sunday. Those were the things I am talking about. I am confused because I cannot imagine a loving Heavenly Father condemns me because I did these things unknowingly.

No drinking, swearing, tobacco, tea, coffee. Soft drink rules vary. No tattoos, only one earring per ear. Cover thighs, upper arms, chest, but swimsuits are ok when appropriate. Only adults wear their special underwear. Dress up for church, skirts. Dancing is fine. Dating varies, but not usually before 16. Rules vary by family too. No sleepovers. No sex outside marriage. No 'R' rated movies. Three hours of church on Sunday, some families won't shop on Sunday. There are other meetings during the week, plus sometimes an hour of 'seminary' a day in high school. Monday is for 'family home evening', everybody stays home. Most realize their rules don't apply to you and aren't offended if you have a cup of coffee. Rules can vary in different parts of the country, as well as how seriously they take it personally.

There aren't any set "rules" as you have put it. There are guideline and doctrines that govern how we do things. Basically, you should ask if in doubt. Talk to a bishop, teacher, or the missionaries again. And hey, we all screw up sometimes. Repent and move on. Keep climbing, keep building, and someday, it will all make sense. Oh, and the church website is also a great resource--search conference talks and stuff like that. (www.lds.org)

Throw it as far as you can and get out of that cult! Find yourself and your children a good Bible believing Church. The Mormons DO NOT BELIEVE IN THE BIBLE NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY!!!
Find a good non-denominational, Christian, Baptist, Assembly of GOD (my favorite) Church.
