The same reason a good father loves his son in spite of thier faults, so Jesus loves us unconditionally in spite of our faults.
Jesus loves us because we belong to him, he made us (as he is God), much like a father brings his child into being. He already paid the price, we just have to accept it.
How?
If by that you mean, "how does jesus love everyone at once?", then:
After Jesus resurrected, before his ascension into heaven, he promised the baptizism of the holy spirit.
The Bible calls the holy spirit a PERSON, not an IT.
The holy spirit acts, has emotion, intercedes for us, and can always be with us.
Much like the wind, we cannot see the holy spirit, but we can see what he does.
The holy spirit does not have a bodily form, and he is not limited to a physical form, and so, he can be everywhere, love everyone, and know everything all at once. And since God is the holy spirit, we can conclude that God is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, etc.
The Bible explains to us, "Why?"
Science can only explain, "How?"
Logic and reason can only go so far. We have limits, as human beings.

Jesus loves people because He is the Holy Spirit, their Creator.
He accepts the death on the cross to show man how to practice selfless love to all mankind for the good pleasure of the One True God.

WHY? He loves them (us) because the nature of the soul is love. It may seem as though that is not true, when you observe the actions of many people on earth--- but even the most demoniac actually love someone or something. The soul cannot avoid this longing for love-- and the desire to give love. It is our very nature. The closer one is to God, the more one manifests this love to all the little 'sparks' of God--- the individual souls.
Look at the (genuine) saints in this world--- Mother Theresa and people like her--- They had/have love for God and mankind--- and the service they do for God and others makes them truly happy.. joy-filled, in fact.
The more one separates oneself from this natural relationship, the more "evil" one becomes-- and tormented by madness and emptiness.
Jesus is in an eternally perfect loving relationship with God. Within the soul of each person lies the spark of God--- hence He cannot do anything but love us.
HOW does he love people? He loves us by trying to help us establish our own loving (not fear-filled) relationship with God. He love us by coming to earth and giving us His perfect example of love. He shows us the way to love.

I am sorry to inform you that Jesus passed away, of violent death 2000 years ago. Perhaps he loved people then. He does not love anymore, he is dead.

Because it's the nature of God to love unconditionally,he cannot help loving you no matter how sinful you are. Of course He wants your love in return but that's no condition, he loves those ones even in hell, and that's why they suffer, they cannot ever love.
