Is the church's responsilblity to teach people from right and wrong in the community around them. Let's say that a man is beating his wife and daughters, can the church go out and tell them that it is wrong to do that.

I get this a lot from Christians. First they tell me to read their Bible. When I tell them I already have, they tell me I obviously didn't understand it.

But it's really not such a difficult book. It's even translated into my own language!

Weirdly enough, when I read Voltaire, Kierkegaard, Schopenhauer, Rousseau or whoever, I never get accused of not having understood what I have read. People accept various opinions about their ideas.

My problem is, I'm constantly being told to read the Bible, and accept Jesus, else I will burn forever.

I have read the Bible, I understood every word. Nice stories, beautiful metaphores, but I also see how we humans have grown intellectually since that book was written. A lot of the Bible is pure nonsense.

So, shouldn't God have given me a better version of His Word, if he really wanted me to make a choice between heaven and hell? If I have read the Bible, understood every sentence, found it false; How do I ever get Jesus in my heart?

Real christians aren't offended when people doubt their salvation, because they don't doubt it themselves. And real Christians aren't sarcastic like Catholics, because they don't rely on their own understanding. They rely on God's. Catholics have spent their lifetime trying to defend false doctrine so they have alsmost perfected their defense to the point that you can't reason with them. And if you ask them to prove what they believe with scripture from the Bible, they start quoting from somebody that's not even in the Bible. Catholics have always judged other people for being heretics, when they are ones trying to earn salvation by performing all these rituals and rites, after Jesus already saved from the law of moses with grace. They just love religion is what it is and don't want to let go of it. Islam and Buddism are religions to, but it wont save them, because the only way to Heaven is Jesus.

I think his self-hatred led to his drug abuse.

And for those in the "being gay is a choice" camp, why would Ted Haggard choose that?!?

Because praying to someone or asking them to pray is the same thing. Any child can figure that out. It's hard make a Catholic understand that they don't need Mary to intercede for them anyway. That's what Jesus is. The intercessor between us and the Father.

There are so many Christians here but I seldom see you in questions. Flood this site with the TRUTH. Make a WAVE in the desert with the Word of God. Come on out for the time is about up for this World Age. Jesus Christ is coming right after Satan does. Make a stand with me. Don't hord these simple points. They mean nothing. It cost you nothing to touch someone with truth.><>

In my silly little country, Holland, we never learned about Creationism. But I see the ongoing debate on this forum about having Creationism be taught in schools.

The last weeks I asked a lot of questions about Creationism. I wondered _how_ God did it, how it was possible to 'speak into existence 50 billion planets in 6 days (that's 518.000 planets per second), what materials he used, etc, etc.

The only answer I constantly got was "God did it, and He is beyond logic".

So, assuming Creationism was taught as a valid theory in schools, how would this lesson take longer than 2 minutes?

How can muslims say that the koran is the word of allah and has not been changed? It was written from 30-50 years after the death of muhammed, and was penned from the memory of some of his believers or their descendants. How can they say it's word for word what allah said? Can you remember word for word, a load of things which were talked about when you were in your twenties, and now you're in your sixties? Can you guarantee something passed down from your grandfather is actually word for word, when it wasn't even learned from text, just told from memory? Rubbish. What's your opinion?
