The fact that it has been observed in nature, that it explains the evidence, and that it can be recreated in the laboratory. The fact that humans have been selectively breeding animals for many generations, which is where seedless grapes, chihuahua dogs, and domestic cattle come from. What bugs creationists about evolution is that it can be proved to exist, unlike creationism which cannot.

Consider this though. How does the theory of evolution preclude god? All it overturns is the dogma of biblical literalism. If your god is confined to a book then I pity you.

I'll answer this question totally on sciences side. First of all, evolution can NOT be proven. Darwin's finches? Charles Darwin NEVER saw these finches become more than just that...finches. Aren't humans the same? Aren't there different colored people? Don't guitarists develop callouse on their fingers? Adaptation does not imply evolution. They say that climate change and other things of that sort push certain animals to evolve. But wait...i thought evolutionary change took millions of years? And yet the climate would have changed much too quickly for an organism to be able to develop the characteristics needed for survival. Overthrust? How do they explain that? Can a rock layer "millions" of years old just jump on top of a layer that is much younger? Without any signs of slicken sides or fissures or anything? Human footprints among trilobites? The 2nd Law of Thermodynamics states that with increasing entropy(randomness) there follows a decreasing complexity, and vis versa. If natural selection (random change in DNA sequence)were to really be true, then wouldn't the organisms become LESS complex and not more complex? So evolution scientists say that Laws are wrong and their Theories are right? You see, whenever a problem disproving evolution comes up, its not that the scientists find the answer, its that they make an EXCUSE for an answer. If i were to steal someones car and park it in my garage, can i say that it is mine? Because its in my garage?
But hey, i believe in the big bang theory...God said "BANG!" and everything came to be.

Not the theory itself so much. . . Just that it is so often put forth so arrogantly. As though we now have all the answers about life, origins, and everything. That some use it to propound a reductionist view of the universe where love is nothing more than a chemical reaction in the brain, dreams and poetry are meaningless delusions, and the question "Why?" has no answer.

this should be entertaining....

especially because there is no doubt that anyone who is "bugged" by any component of "the occurrence of a change in a gene pool" has absolutely NO concept of what evolution means.

a reminder, evolution is the mechanism of biodiversity, the billions of species of life on earth, and how they change over time.

and to the other simple minds, we never evolved from any monkey, as species don't simply "turn into" other species. we shared a common ancestor. that is it.

also, remove "god" from scientific study, evolution claims nothing about god, nor does it seek to. the "how" of life is explained by evolution and science in general, and the "why" is addressed with religion. science is not qualified to say 'why', as religion is not qualified to say 'how'. THEY CAN BE FRIENDS!

I think it's because it doesn't mention god anywhere (i'm not a creationist, but I suspect this is the reason)

That it is scientifically impossible for the Theory of Evolution to have taken place yet scientists still try to ram it down our throats.

It doesn' t bother me anymore, since I've learned that you can't expect carnal minds to discern things of the spirit.
