I get this a lot from Christians. First they tell me to read their Bible. When I tell them I already have, they tell me I obviously didn't understand it.

But it's really not such a difficult book. It's even translated into my own language!

Weirdly enough, when I read Voltaire, Kierkegaard, Schopenhauer, Rousseau or whoever, I never get accused of not having understood what I have read. People accept various opinions about their ideas.

My problem is, I'm constantly being told to read the Bible, and accept Jesus, else I will burn forever.

I have read the Bible, I understood every word. Nice stories, beautiful metaphores, but I also see how we humans have grown intellectually since that book was written. A lot of the Bible is pure nonsense.

So, shouldn't God have given me a better version of His Word, if he really wanted me to make a choice between heaven and hell? If I have read the Bible, understood every sentence, found it false; How do I ever get Jesus in my heart?

Ah, but the language _is_ different. For example:

'Read' = 'mindlessly accept'.
'Understand' = 'mindlessly accept'.
'Opinion' = 'the work of the Devil'.
'accept Jesus' = 'baa baa'.

See? You're speaking a different language. That's the source of the problem here.

You my friend are an agnostic. There is something that is blocking your way to Jesus Christ. It may be this question or another. The best thing I can tell you is that if you are really this serious about getting Jesus into your life all you have to do is confess with your mouth that you are a sinner and Jesus died on the cross, Believe it in your heart, and ask clergymen about your questions. I'm sure that they will give you answers. Also keep reading the bible, it will start to answer your questions, as you go along.

Well, if you want a better book you can have my old Science Astronomy text book, just understand there are now 8 planets, not 9 like my book says, and Pluto isn't one of them and Steady State is no longer an accepted theory as Big Bang exhibited background gamma rays as predicted by the Catholic Priest who postulated that theory in 1930 long before we could measure gamma rays in space. But he said they'd be there and they were, so that leaves Dr. Hoyles, text book very outdated, but you're welcome to it if you that old, outdate science books still has merits!

You are looking at the wrong source and to the wrong authority.

The Bible alone is a dead book, and has no inherent authority.

The Church is alive and has been empowered directly by God to accomplish its' mission. The Bible is only one of the things on which the true church relies.

Anyone who believes the false doctrine of the Bible alone has simply been deceived.

You can see it. Why can't they?

It is hard to feed a closed mouth. Its hard to see with closed eyes. Indeed there are errors in the bible. Want the truth? Read the Qur'an.
