why did mohammed say that women should hide in dress from head to toe in public places ?

if mohammed was so concerned about good society, why did he not preach love and humanity ?
which would have been more logical and fetching ?
or did he think that women are supposed to be weak and does not have desires for sex. ?

I think it's more that men are thought to be weak, and unable to control themselves if they see a woman's...well, anything.

What's really odd about this is, I get such looks from Muslim men when I go into a Middle Eastern store, and I'm just a normal-looking chubby girl with long brown hair in a business suit or jeans. Other men don't look at me that way. They look at me like I'm normal. So I think the practice of making women cover everything up objectifies them more than it liberates them.

Mohammad did preach about love, and he didn't ask women to go around looking like tents or ghosts. (Burqa, niqab.) And as I've said before, most women are "hijabi" in winter anyway. We can deal with a scarf and a long dress, we really can. Christians, after all, deal with it for nuns, and the Eastern Orthodox church asks women to cover their heads and wear long skirts for their services.
