an example of "cross referencing" NT with OT in the bible:

Isaiah 7:14 Good News Bible
Well then, the Lord himself shall give you a sign: a YOUNG WOMAN [emphasis mine] who is pregnant will have a son and will name him Immanuel.

Isaiah 7:14 NRSV
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign. Look, the YOUNG WOMAN [emphasis mine] is with child and shall bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel.

The Good News Bible even provides a footnote explaining this:

YOUNG WOMAN: The Hebrew word here translated "young woman" is not the specific term for "virgin", but refers to any young woman of marriageable age. The use of "virgin" in Mat. 1.23 reflects a Greek translation of the Old Testament, made some 500 years after Isaiah.

as referenced by MATTHEW,

Matthew 1:22-23
And this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "The VIRGIN [emphasis mine] is with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel-which means 'God is with

In the preparatory phase of Catholic mass, usually two laymen read the Bible at the pulpit beside the altar.
After this the priest reads another part of the gospel to the faithful ,followed by his sermon.

What do you call the reading by the laymen?

in bible verse 14:15 31 doesn't it refer to holy spirit as pronoun (him). How can this be if it is spirit, it should be refered to with pronoun (it). this backs up the fact that prophet muhammad(pbuh) is the one who was mention in this verse.

Is it against the general Christian religion to believe that, while Jesus was obviously male, and the holy spirit is neither gender, that God the Father is actually comprised of both masculine and feminine elements. (Truthfully, gender is only necessary for pro-creation and God doesn't need sex to procreate). And if it is not a taboo to accept God the father as without gender (or both gender), then why do so may people get offended if you refer to God with the pronoun "She"....

What is wrong with religion? It seems to blind people. And it would seem that if there were no religion on this planet, things would be better? Is that right?

A Muslim once told me that the Quran cannot lawully be translated.

He told me that in order to become a Muslim, the believer must be a able to read Arabic (or learn it) so he/she can read the Quran in it's orginal language.

He also said it was against the doctrine of the religion to translate the Quran into any language because doing so would/may/might corrupt the meaning.

Is this untrue? Yes or no?

Time and again the world has recognized the Holy Quran as a Book that has not been defiled by the passage of time. None has been able to prove it to be an altered one. Today, what the welfare states are doing has already been done by the True Muslim leaders/rulers during their reign. All the concepts of welfare of human being that the world is practising today have their roots in the Holy Quran. (Read and compare as self-evidence needs no proof)

Again the world has recognized, the one way or the other that the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (peace be upon him), is the superiormost personality, and the topping of the topmost leaders of the world. He has always been ranked the best of the best in the worldly ways, who has done every thing selflessly for welfare of manking and has given the best of code of life which today's west is adopting despite not embracing Islam.

Then why the world does feel shame in embracing Islam? Of Course, the Muslims are hypocrites! Is the whole world so?

Deuteronomy 20:10-16

why was god making the jews kill people for a space in the desert unless this god was unaware of the fact that the world was bigger than that. trust me. i live in the northwest of the united states, this is a MUCH better place than the desert of israel. if god was truly all powerful, why didn't he just transport the jews to a much more fetile ground? instead he ordered the DEATH of the infadels (much like the muslim extremists of today) and made them camp out in the desert... was god unaware of the spherical earth and the much better lands elsewhere, including but not limited to, the northwestern united states?
