Am I sinning if I don't keep the Sabbath like they did in the Old Testament?

The Bible doesn't say anything about Sabbath non-keepers not inheriting the kingdom...

The 4th Commandment: Remember and Observe the Sabbath.

But no. If you're not a Jew you're not supposed to observe the Sabbath like in the Old Testament.

Going to church on Saturday doesn't really matter as its church you're going to anyways.

matvfreelife read the Torah, find out what it says of the Sabbath

The Sabbath was not put in place during the time of the Jews, it was put into place in the Garden of Eden before there were even any Jews! When Moses received the Ten Commandments written in stone those were a reminder of Gods Law but not things they did not already know.
The whole idea of the Sabbath is to have uninterrupted time to grow closer With God. It's not about works, its about a relationship. Some may say that the Law of God was done away with at the cross, but it was the law of Moses, the ceremonial laws that were done away with. Remember, the Law of God was placed inside the ark of the covenant, but the law of Moses was placed along side. Gods law and character do not change. God knew from the start that we would need time to set aside for him so he blessed the Sabbath and made it holy.
But cant we just worship him every day?...of course, but I think of it like this....Imagine you have an anniversary dinner planned with your spouse. You planned it all out ahead of time to make everything perfect, even got a sitter for the kids, then during conversation over dinner you say you are going to have some friends over to watch a football game in a few minutes. You explain that you love your spouse but see him/her every day and they already know that.
Of course you would never do that because you had set that time aside to be together. To grow closer. Not a burden, but a blessing, and that is what the Sabbath is all about!

Many Christains today thinks that God made heaven & earth in 6- 24 hr. day & on the 7th 24 hour day God rested, In Gen 2:4 These are the generations of the heavens & the earth-------. You are looking at Generations & not 24 hrs. a day, & God does not get worn out, That 7th day type the 1000 yrs. millennium, Our sabbath today is in Jesus Christ, Did not Jesus say come unto me & I will give you REST, In the law of Moses, They did keep a day of rest, Which would have been from Friday evening to Saturday evening, But where did that sabbath accured at, In the middle east, If we look at it today, & Israel is observing the sabbath, then people in other countries that has a different time frame will not be obeying the law, When it came time for Grace to the Gentiles, We use Sunday as our sabbath, 1st Cor. 16:1-2 Apostle Paul is saying to bring into the storehouse, what God has prospered you on the first day of the week,, Why did Paul say this? Because He knew that Christ rose on the first day of the week, Now to see another thing, Romans 10:4 For Christ is the END of the LAW---------. So you have to see that God resting on the 7th day was a time frame of 1000 yrs. & that typed out the Millennium, which will be our rest, But before the millennium, Christ is our REST. If you need more verses, I have many concerning this, Colossians 2:16-17 Let no man therefore judge you in MEAT(PORK) or in drink or in the repect of an holyday or of the new moon or of the sabath Days(Saturday or Sunday) Which are a shadow of things to come--------

Revelation 14 says that 3 messages go out to the world right before the end comes. The first message says worship the creator and then it quotes the 4th commandment.

God is calling his people to return to the commandments and worship Him as He has described. He wants His people to leave man made traditions and come back to His word.

What is sin?

"Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law." I John 3:4

The Sabbath is part of the law. So is it a sin to break the Sabbath

Does the Bible say anything about Sabbath breaking and inheriting the Kingdom

"For if we sin(transgress the law) willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment, and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries."
Hebrews 10:26

Why do most people go to church on Sunday? There are about 11 reasons but they are NOT supported by the Bible.

I will explain each of the 11 reasons below it may be a little long, but it will cover all the reasons.

1.The early church changed
NO WHERE in the Bible does the early church say “The new day of worship is Sunday” There is NO verse in the Bible to support this.

The early church kept the Sabbath
The apostles kept the Sabbath
Acts 13:14
Acts 13:42
Acts 13:44
Acts 16:13
Acts 17:2
Acts 18:4

the Gentiles went to Church on Sabbath
Acts 13:42
Acts 17:1-4
Acts 18

2.Sunday is the new Sabbath because of the resurrection, or petecost etc
Ok and where does the Bible say worship on Sunday because of any of these events? NO WHERE
No verse in the Bible says worship on Sunday due to the Resurrection. God said that Baptism is symbol of the death and resurrection of Christ
Colossians 2:12
Romans 6:3-4
Galatians 3:27

3.Jesus fulfilled the law so the Sabbath is gone
Matt 5:17
"Do NOT THINK that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I HAVE NOT come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

does fulfill mean do away with or end

"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to do away with them.
Isn’t that the contradictory?

4.We can’t tell which day
So, ENTIRE Jewish Nation all over the ENTIRE world woke up one morning and EVERY one of them forgot which day was the Sabbath?
That is not logical

The change of the calendar had no effect on the weekly cycle
The US Naval Observatory and the Royal Observatory both confirm the 7th day Sabbath(Saturday) is the SAME Sabbath that Jesus kept.

Mark 16 says that Jesus rose the day after the Sabbath. We all know Jesus rose on Sunday... so what day is the Sabbath?
Some people say “God didn’t name the days Sunday, Monday, Tuesday etc so we don’t have to keep it.”
Essentially what these people are saying is because we speak a different language from the Jews we don’t have to do what God says

5.It does not matter which day WE choose
God did not say "Pick a day to worship" He said "THE" 7th day is "THE" Sabbath. The word "THE" means a specific item.

The first person to say "It doesn't matter how we worship God" is Cain. Cain said "It doesn't matter how we worship God as long as we give something God will accept it. God does not care as long as you give and call it holy. Don't be legalistic Abel."
Was he right?
Is God specific about what He says.

6.It was only for the Jews, or The Jewish Sabbath is Saturday and the Christian Sabbath is Sunday
The Sabbath was given to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden 1000 yrs before the first JEW was born Genesis 2:1-3 if they were Jews we all are Jews and STILL need to keep the Sabbath

There is NO SUCH THING as "The Jewish Sabbath and the Christian Sabbath". There is ONLY ONE Sabbath day regardless of religion, race, nationality or language. The 7th day Sabbath does not belong to the Jews it belongs to God, "I am Lord of the Sabbath" Jesus said. In addition "The seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord" Exodus 20:8-11

7.Sunday has always been the Sabbath
This contradicts the Mark 16 which says Jesus rose the day after the Sabbath on the first day of the week.

8.we are under the new covenant
Hebrews 8:7-12 says
For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another.(What was the problem?) But God found fault with the PEOPLE and said "The time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a nEW COVENANT with the house of ISRAEL and with the house of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt (Why?), because THEY DID NOT REMAIN FAITHFUL TO MY COVENANT, and I turned away from them, declares the Lord. This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts.

The Old Covenant- the people failed to keep their part “They said we will do it” Exodus 19:8 and they failed

The problem with the Old covenant was the people failed to keep it. There was nothing wrong with the law.

The Old Covenant was based on the people, God says “If you will...then I will” Exodus 19:5

The New Covenant is based on God, God says “I will and I will”

Where does God say that He is changing some of the laws? Where does God say that He is doing away with the Sabbath?

The New covenant, same law

9.Jesus broke the Sabbath
If Jesus broke the Sabbath then how can he say “I have kept my Fathers commandments John 15:10

10.We worship on the lord’s day … Sunday
Again, NOT ONE verse to support this claim, nor is there any verse in the Bible calling Sunday the Lord's Day. the only days called the Lord's day is the Sabbath(Saturday) and the day of Christ’s 2nd coming
Exodus 20:8
Isa 58:13,14
Matthew 12:8
Mark 2:28
Luke 6:5
Provide ONE verse that calls Sunday the Lord's Day

11.We don’t have to keep the Old law anymore we are under the spirit of the Law Love God and your neighbor
A) Is it ok to murder people? Is it ok to commit adultery? Or steal or worship other gods or be disrespectful to your parents? Then why are we getting rid of the only commandment that starts with “Remember”?

B)Does the Spirit of the Law void the Letter?
Spirit- don’t hate your brother
Letter- don’t murder

Spirit- don’t lust
Letter- don’t commit adultery

Spirit- Let you yes be yes and no be no
Letter- Don’t bare false witness

How can you keep the spirit and break the letter?

C) Jesus is quoting the “Old” Law when he says love God and your neighbor
Love God – Deut 6:5
Love your neighbor Lev 19:18

D) Mosaic law was done away with but the Mosaic law is different from the 10 commandments. The 10 commandments are eternal written in fire with the finger of God, Mosaic is temporary written by Moses.

12.We worship God everyday
This is a last ditched effort when people realize they have no Biblical basis to support violating God’s command by ignoring the Sabbath and worshiping on Sunday. It is a way to sound holier than thou willfully disobeying God

The disciples worshiped God everyday and they ALL kept the Sabbath.

Jesus prayed to His Father in Heaven everyday in addition to the fact that He is God and He still kept the Sabbath
Luke 4:16
Matthew 12:9,10
Mark 1:21
Mark 6:2 Luke 4:16
Luke 4:31
Luke 13:10

The Bible shows that If you worship everyday you STILL keep the Sabbath

First pray to GOD with all your heart and ask him to send you the holy spirit to guide into all truth and he will.
Yes it is a sin

The sabbath is not just for jews like many christians think. The sabbath was created on the 7th day of creation way before the word Jew existed. God himself rested on the sabbath and blesses and made it holy. A blessing lasts forever so the sabbath is alway going to be holy. In fact we will keeep the sabbath on the new earth.

The sabbath was never changed by GOD , however man has attempted to change the day of worship and justify it by saying jesus rose on sunday and thats the new day.

If that were so GOD would have included the change in the bible. But GOD actually said that the law wold never change. Mary and the Deciples knew this and kept the sabbath even after the deathe of chist. There's a only a few times in the whole bible where sunday, the first day of the week was mentioned.

Jesus said that He came to fulfill the law. In the old testament there were many things that had to be done. People had to make sacrafices, and do many things that we do not have to do any more... Why is this?? In the old testament the Hebrews always had to sacrafice an "innocent" animal to atone for there sins. This was a picture of what the ultimate sacrafice would be...Jesus... There was no ultimate sacrafice for the Hebrews, they were constantly sacraficing.. Now that we have had the perfect sacrafice we no longer have to observe the laws of the old testament. However, we do have to try to live the life of Christ. In other words follow his example.. The new testament repeats most of the Ten commandments. Keeping the Sabbath day is not one of them. In fact Jesus was questioned on numerous occasions for healing the sick on the Sabbath.. We are no longer under the letter of the law so to speak. Hope this helps!!

Are Christians under obligation to keep a weekly sabbath day?

Ex. 31:16, 17: “The sons of Israel must keep the sabbath, so as to carry out the sabbath during their generations. It is a covenant to time indefinite [“a perpetual covenant,” RS]. Between me and the sons of Israel it is a sign to time indefinite.” (Notice that sabbath observance was a sign between Jehovah and Israel; this would not be the case if everyone else were also obligated to keep the Sabbath. The Hebrew word rendered “perpetual” in RS is ‛oh·lam′, which basically means a period of time that, from the standpoint of the present, is indefinite or hidden from sight but of long duration. That can mean forever, but not necessarily so. At Numbers 25:13 the same Hebrew word is applied to the priesthood, which later ended, according to Hebrews 7:12.)

Rom. 10:4: “Christ is the end of the Law, so that everyone exercising faith may have righteousness.” (Sabbath keeping was a part of that Law. God used Christ to bring that Law to its end. Our having a righteous standing with God depends on faith in Christ, not on keeping a weekly sabbath.) (Also Galatians 4:9-11; Ephesians 2:13-16)

Col. 2:13-16: “[God] kindly forgave us all our trespasses and blotted out the handwritten document against us, which consisted of decrees and which was in opposition to us . . . Therefore let no man judge you in eating and drinking or in respect of a festival or of an observance of the new moon or of a sabbath.” (If a person was under the Mosaic Law and was judged guilty of profaning the Sabbath, he was to be stoned to death by the whole congregation, according to Exodus 31:14 and Numbers 15:32-35. Many who argue for sabbath keeping have reason to be glad that we are not under that Law. As shown in the scripture here quoted, an approved standing with God no longer requires observance of the sabbath requirement given to Israel.)

No you are not. The Sabbath in the OT was just a shadow or representation of the true sabbath which was to come and this was Jesus Christ. When you are in Christ you rest from the things of this world and that is the real sabbath.

Jesus did not come to abolish the law, but to fufill it. Here is what the Catechism of the Catholic Church says.

2175 Sunday is expressly distinguished from the sabbath which it follows chronologically every week; for Christians its ceremonial observance replaces that of the sabbath. In Christ's Passover, Sunday fulfills the spiritual truth of the Jewish sabbath and announces man's eternal rest in God. For worship under the Law prepared for the mystery of Christ, and what was done there prefigured some aspects of Christ:

Those who lived according to the old order of things have come to a new hope, no longer keeping the sabbath, but the Lord's Day, in which our life is blessed by him and by his death

The Sabbath is on Saturday, but most Christians go to Church on Sunday. The Christian religion changed many of the Jewish laws. The Old Testament also says not to eat pork or shellfish, which Christians do not follow either
