Felsic rocks like Granite form from high viscosity (thick, with a high silicone volume) magma deep within the earth. The slow cooling of these rock masifests a large crystal structure that you can see in Granites today.
These rocks take millions of years to solidify and cool and many more millions of years of erosion and Orogenis are required to bring them to the surface so they can be handled and used as building materials today.
If the earth was only 6-10 thousand years old the heat from all the Granite alone would turn all the water on the surface of the earth to steam.
How do you explain this?

which is considered sacred to the people there, why is it cursed, and brings bad luck to people who bring it home?

Additional Details

Note: They claim 40,000 gods inhabit the island, which I don't believe in, so why would a rock be cursed.

I believe in a loving God, not one that curses.

Do you think you can do it for 1 week, and truely be humble?

(To those not familiar with the Bible, the 'casting our pearls before swine' remark is not calling anyone a swine, it is a reference to an instruction given by Jesus in the form of a metaphor).

I refer specifically to our usage of this site.

I've only been using this site for a couple of days but I'm already suprised at the sometimes vitriolic responses to us from certain sections of this community.

I realise that we should be prepared to expect trouble for following Christ, He warned of this specifically, but I guess I'm wondering if we actually manage to reach anyone with His message via this medium?

I would especially appreciate responses from those Christians who have a great amount of experience of using Yahoo Answers.

Is this a business or religious question or both? As well as a legal constitutional one too? Where to we (unmix) business and religion and yet have the golden rule on top in business? All religion needs some income but do they get it ethically or unethically even if their holy book(s) says to get it ethically do they ALL do it that way? Or these questions too deep or simple? On my other page below the only answer I reveived on that business was, "Just check them out first in your legal consumer council." So I did and it is on that page also. But so much is said my mind said "WHAT?" Can some wise attorney make it simple for me and others? Like what is a real pyramid unethical business for real? When do you know it is a con job not there for your good for real but for their good? I know I am getting deep but we need good answers for the good of us all!

I know there are a lot of decent Muslims in the world and was wondering have you seen the collection of DVDs called the "Death Series" and how do you feel about it?
An extract from the DVD states
"We want to have children and offer them as soldiers defending Islam.

"Teach them this: There is nothing more beloved to me than wanting to die as a mujahid (holy warrior).

"Put in their soft, tender hearts the zeal of jihad and a love of martyrdom."

I am worried and so are a lot of Muslims in my area who are decent, loving people will be attacked because of some of their leaders are causing trouble for them.

Do you agree with the DVD or do you think it will cause more trouble that you don't need?

God Bless You

that atheists, agnostics, wiccans etc should not be in this category because it is the "Religion & Spirituality" section. More than once I have heard people state something to the effect that if you dont ascribe to a religion you have no spirituality. I find this offensive because it shows a lack of understanding of the definition of spirituality.. An important distinction exists between spirituality in religion and spirituality as opposed to religion.
Spirituality can be defined as follows..
Meaning – significance of life; making sense of situations; deriving purpose.
Values – beliefs, standards and ethics that one cherishes.
Transcendence – experience, awareness, and appreciation of a "transcendent dimension" to life beyond self.
Connecting – increased awareness of a connection with self, others, God/Spirit/Divinity, and nature/Nature.
Becoming – an unfolding of life that demands reflection and experience; including a sense of who one is and how one knows.

If it was proved there was no hell, do you think people would continue to be Christians? Or, do you think people would abandon their Christian views?

I personally think a lot of people are afraid of "hell" like the Bible describes, so they become or remain Christians because they fear going to hell if they reject Jesus.

What is your opinion?
