that atheists, agnostics, wiccans etc should not be in this category because it is the "Religion & Spirituality" section. More than once I have heard people state something to the effect that if you dont ascribe to a religion you have no spirituality. I find this offensive because it shows a lack of understanding of the definition of spirituality.. An important distinction exists between spirituality in religion and spirituality as opposed to religion.
Spirituality can be defined as follows..
Meaning – significance of life; making sense of situations; deriving purpose.
Values – beliefs, standards and ethics that one cherishes.
Transcendence – experience, awareness, and appreciation of a "transcendent dimension" to life beyond self.
Connecting – increased awareness of a connection with self, others, God/Spirit/Divinity, and nature/Nature.
Becoming – an unfolding of life that demands reflection and experience; including a sense of who one is and how one knows.

Do you think it is right to say that only religion entails spirituality?? I think anyone can have their own spirituality and that people should not be told they dont belong in this category because they dont believe in any god... What do you think??

fireball2... why should there be seperate sections when spirituality encompasses every belief or lack thereof?? Just because you dont believe in a god doesnt mean you dont have a spirituality of your own.. Thats my point! You dont have to be religious to be spiritual.

I'm a Christian and I totally agree with you. Some people follow a religion without having any spirituality. For example, going to church b/c you think that makes you a good Christian or Catholic. Or doing good works b/c you think that makes you a good Jew. Or adhering to a strict diet b/c it makes you a good Muslim. I think that just b/c you follow an organized religion does not always mean you are spiritual and vice versa. Spirituality is a state of being, an essence that, depending on what you believe in, defines your values, faith, existence. Religion is the organization of those values and a way to learn and grow closer to whichever God you believe. I think spirituality is how you exist in the world and religion is what gives you the blueprint for living your life. I think the two can be separate, even if they shouldn't be(In my opinion). So yeah, why can't other beliefs post here? Why not I say!

I agree with you. We all our own believe that we follow through... Just because we don't believe in God doesn't mean that our beliefs are not spiritual. And I be more than happy to discussed this furthered with anyone.

specific, maximum folk (around 60%) of scientists have the two a disbelief in god or have self belief god would not exist. this suggestion is effectively sourced from Wikipedia. this could sound like a controversy from authority, inspite of the reality that considering scientists must be those actual to have encountered medical information for a god. the specified loss of theory means that the information is at maximum, very scarce. So specific, it fairly is a low-value place to maintain for the two atheists and theists. As for theists who carry this attitude and inspite of the reality that experience because of the reality that of religion, they are waiting to and do. it fairly is usually a place that i in looking just about bewildering inspite of the incontrovertible fact that: to apply faith as an excuse to experience, whilst fairly conserving a theory on faith is in trouble-free terms making a presupposition (or wager) and hence must be expressed as an admission of doubt, is to fly interior the face of rationality. finally can every person argue in assessment fact? specific then can and have tried to, Dinesh D'souza (a christian apologist) is a solid representation of this. His argument, inspite of the incontrovertible fact that may not very effectual as he claims it fairly is all on the subject of ways you interpret the suggestion, as quickly as greater i element out the scientist suggestion in this undertaking. The exact loss of theory interior the medical group attitude it is probably Dinesh is the only that misinterprets the archives.

Spirituality is either conversing with God or conversing with demons. Demons are deceptive and give you all kinds of experiences. One lady I knew from several years back was into white magic. She had a transe and was about to "cross over". She knew that it was the point of no return but she was very curious. She said as she floated across this long room, she was almost to that point when suddenly a bright white light enveloped her and she woke up soaked in sweat. A few days later she found out that that night her brother was praying for her in the spirit, interceeding for her, and the white light was God interveining.

It is far better not to get mixed up with demonic forces, because they only lead to destruction. One of my friends who was into new age spirituality is now in rehab for substance abuse. It basically destroyed his life. It can also destroy the soul.

Wicca is a religion, that folks say otherwise doesn't change the fact that it is a recognized religion.

The folks you are referring to would have the world believe and acknowledge only one religion, theirs. There were religions before theirs was founded, there were religions after theirs was founded, they are all religions, each with their own song to sing.

We must get our own education to distinguish false interpretations of the believers and the authentic teachings of the Prophets in Their Holy Books.
No Prophets say that heaven unconditionally belongs to the followers, but they must learn and live by the Law of God. And all people, believers and non-believers, who consciously live by the Law of God, can enjoy heavenly bliss, according to the divine law of causality.
And therefore, unbelievers and false believers suffer the same destiny.

I married a Catholic and I believe he married me to free himself from this very closed minded thinking.
We have been happily married for 9 years w/ 2 children whom attend Catholic school, but a year ago his father said that he was happy that his grandchildren and son were going to heaven, but concerned about me going to hell (:
I really should become more active for his benefit, but yes I am with you on this subject.
Keep Beleaving
