After you pray for something it is important that you do not just say a quick prayer and keep going. You should continue to pray for clarity on the situation. Usually my answers come to me in dreams, and you can usually tell if it is from God or not. Listen very closely and pay attention so you can make sure you hear him when he speaks. But also, do not forget that God helps those who help themselves, so you still need to be a go getter!!!

I was married to my current wife in 1973 and prayed a lot before asking her to marry me. To this day I am not sure God directed me to marry her.
I think I did not wait long enough on God and here is a big issue: I did not wait to have sex until after marriage. I often wonder if I was on my own with the decision of who to marry and when because I was not trying very hard to live the way I knew God instructs us to live.
If you are living according to what the Bible tells you and you have found a girl that is doing the same and you want to know if she is the right one for you to marry then I think God will tell you clearly and if He has not yet given you a clear answer you should wait on God to tell you, before you propose to this girl. Pray earnestly for God's will to be done in your life in this regard and wait for a clear answer.

God will not do out work for us. We must use common sense and good judgment when picking a mate. Just because a person is a good person and will make someone a good husband or wife does not mean they will be good for everyone.
Ask these questions and more
Are we good for each other?
Do we argue a lot?
Do we see eye to ey on things especially about God and church.
Do we compliment each other.
do we feel the same way about children?
Does she look at other men or do I look at other women?
Do my parents like her?
Do her parents like me?
There are many other things to consider, See how common sense is the answer and not some feeling from God?

Do you like her? check
Does she like you? (you check)
Do you all have stuff in common? (you check)
Does she say "yes" when you ask her out? (you check)
Not being trite, but God's answers come with a little research
Good luck!

Just get yourself out of the way, be quiet, and listen to your heart. You will be told.
