I second that motion. After all, you should know, it's the MEEK that are supposed to inherit the earth.

Notice how the question was framed from the ego's point of view? How many answers came from God's perspective?
22 out of 23 responses, prior to this one, failed that litmus test.
Having said all that, let's dispel a couple myths while we're at it.
1. A lot of folks seemed to be confused about judgement. Judgement is determining whether someone will go to hell or to heaven. Judgement is reserved for God, who delegated that authority to Jesus Christ. When someone says "go to hell" or whatever they are just spouting off since Jesus is the absolute authority on judgement.
2. It's called freedom of speech. If you are against the United States Constitution I'm certain there are plenty of countries around the world where you can go and never be heard from again.

For me that should be easy. Those people that use such phrases are using it in order to scare others into a particular faith. Those techniques have been used for many hundreds of years in order to build up and maintain a flock. Seems to work, along with "don't question religious authorities," and "you don't need to read the Bible, your leaders have the answers for you."
People that feel they need to use scare tactics have to get over their superior and righteous attitudes first. A difficult task for those that enjoy being jerks.

I hear what you are trying to do. But, if someone asks the question "will I go to hell, if I don't believe in Jesus?" You have to answer "yes", because that is what the Christian faith teaches. I will not lie to anyone about the fate of the unsaved. Now, to stop calling people names is another things. What bugs me is when a Christian insults another Christian, that bugs me more than insults from and atheist. I find it is mostly unbelievers calling us stupid and retarded.

Thank you. There's a difference between free speech and polite behavior. I *do* recognize that people of all creeds often behave poorly on this board. But the fewer that do, the nicer a place it shall be.

Most Christians that I know already refrain from using those phrases to me (I am a Hedge Witch). But I am willing to bet that it will make absolutely no difference on Y/A! I believe they would explode first.

To my recollection, I've never used any of those phrases. I've never thought that they help the dialog continue rationally. My hope is to enlighten, not to confirm someones already negative opinion of Christians. If you want someone to listen to what you have to say, then being nasty not going to help.
