It won't ever happen. And to ChesireCat who thinks man will become god, are you aware that this was EXACTLY what lucifer said?
Isaiah 14
12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.

If one follows a religion he will know that this is untrue. God is the All-powerful if you get to know him you believe in him. Ask yourself what is the probability of a man lasting forever in this world. Out of the scale 0 to 1 I say it is 0 which makes it uncertain under any condition.

He will wreak vengeance on our poor Godless souls, and Armageddon, the Apocalypse, the End of the World, call it what you like, it WILL happen. And you should be afraid, very afraid. Read Revelations...it will tell you what to expect.
However, I don't think we will figure out how to stay alive forever...

yeah, like that is going to happen.
God knows that man will stay alive forever.....
spiritually.
That is why He sent His only son to die on the cross for YOU and me.
John 3: The Words of Jesus Christ (God in the flesh)
3. "Verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God."
4. Nicodemus saith unto Him, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?"
5. Jesus answered, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God."
6. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."
16. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18. He that believeth on Him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

The Lord is creater of all men and He has designed us to never know how to live forever. We are very small in God's eyes, and yet he knows the amount of all the hair on your head. He is above of all. Never underestimate how awesome, and majestic the Lord is.
Besides, who wants to live forever anyway, I would much rather go and spend eternity with the Lord:)

Considering that Faith in Christ is the way to eternal life, I'm thinking that He'll be glad when Man figures that out.

God is complete in Himself, and He does not need anything from us. He is self-sufficient. God is full in all opulence; He does not need anything from anyone.
We may die now all or may live forever. We are just a handful of insignificant humans in this insignificant planet , He does not care so much, God has innumerable planets full of innumerable servants in His kingdom.
We are searching for God for our own benefit nor for His benefit.

Man will become God.
Technically we can stay alive foreve, or close to forever. (at least a couple thousand years) under Einstein's theory of relativity. So yeah..
