Always invisible or can she be visible when she wants to be?

If she can be visible when she wants to be, how often is she visible? You wouldn't think she'd be visible very often or we'd have to stop calling her the "Invisible" Pink Unicorn.

I know this is probably the 5 billionth time that this question's been asked, but... what the heck... I thought I'd give it a go with a few new folks tossing in their 2 cents.

Atheists, go ahead and let us know why.

All others, tell us what you think.

I always thought religion was about morals, being a better person, and helping your fellow man. I'm really trying to understand. Please, only serious answers.

Deleted Question: Why did the Church had to hide and destroy the evidence.?

Question Details: 5) "But when we examine its practical effect on the Christian movement, we can see, paradoxically, that the doctrine of bodily resurrection also serves an essential political function: it legitimizes the authority of certain men who claim to exercise exclusive leadership over the churches as the successors of the apostle Peter. From the second century, the doctrine has served to validate the apostolic succession of bishops, the basis of papal authority to this day. Gnostic Christians who interpret resurrection in other ways have a lesser claim to authority: when they claim priority over the orthodox, they are denounced as heretics." page6 They desired to control the masses. It has continued to be a successful ploy on their part. Pope Gregory played a huge role in deceiving all of you.

I have really liked this person for ages, but I am unsure if I should tell him how I feel. Every human being fears rejection and I am no exception. I really do care for this person...but one thing I think would stand in my way is religion.

I myself am a non-catholic and I have no problem with him being a Catholic (I like him for what he is and that is part of him), but I fear rejection by him on the grounds that i am a non-catholic.

Personally I think religion has nothing to do with true love - in fact true love should overcome these things.

But he is very devout and I am in two minds if I should tell him or not. Is it common for devout catholics, I mean those who attend weekly mass to fall in love with or have a relationship with a non-catholic?

I won't bother telling him how I feel if I have no chance of going out with him on confessional grounds. I am scared of getting a broken heart...but I care about him so much.

I will offer you some background about me so you can better understand my question:

I am a physicist (23) who, whilst at school when I was not even a teenager, began to read about different religions. I have a lot of understanding about different religions in the world and understand why people believe in them. More to the point, I understand why the followers of each religion believe theirs to be true. I have the highest respect for anyone of Faith, whatever that Faith may be.

The most prominent evidence for the existance of a deity is in the existance of conciousness.

There are two possibilities:

* Conciousness is the result of nature
* Nature is the result of conciousness

Philosophically speaking, both possibilities are equally likely and both are unprovable either way. In this sense, atheism is also a religion. As there is no way to prove which possibility is correct, it is up to the individual to decide what they believe.

Do you have any thoughts on this?

All my life I have been what I believe is referred to as a 'Stoic', although don't quote me on this. I take the rough with the smooth and realise sh*t happens. I just get on with things, get the job done and take it all in my stride without kicking up a fuss or getting mad. I try to live my life by the words of the famous poem 'If', and I think this best describes my character.

Do you think this a good life philosophy or is too old-fashioned? I just want to be a gentleman and, when required, a rock to those around me no matter what the peronal expense. Never waver, never give in, just suck it all up, pull my shoulders back, and carry on.

Is this the right attitude, do you think, or does complaining and being confrontational bear more merit in your book?

Thanks so much.

As some of you might know by now with me answering some questions I do not believe in god. And I dont try to force my thoughts onto other people and I dont argue about their thoughts being wrong. But recently I have been seeing this alot "Just because we cannot see something does not mean that it does not exist." and I had to ask this.

When they use this argument are they thinking of all it applys to? In this argument everything from magic, talking animals, flying pigs...etc is real. I dont remember the names of the people but the thing I quoted above is a quote from a question or two someone asked and people posted that as a reply.

Also if anyone read my other question that was "If you believe in god dont you have to believe in aliens" and alot of people that believe in god said no....but then again atleast one of them posted the arugement above.

It appears to me that any mention of "that" Religion instantly means deletion of the question. To illustrate my point i would ask you to indicate the Religion i refer too. Plus any additional comments.

If yahoo truly treat all people equally no one religion should stand out specifically. Somehow I think that will be proved wrong.

You would think it (god) could has slipped in something useful like an accurate description of the solar system, germ theory, an accurate estimation of pi, or even telling the people to wash their hands before delivering an infant. The last one alone could have saved the lives of countless women.

Instead we get a bunch of fanciful tales of talking snakes, walking on water, zombies, and the sanctioning of slavery.

We all know that the water cycle did not exist for a while, because there was no rain. Then the flood came. Is this when the hyrdologic cycle got started?

If so, what happened when all that floodwater evaporated? Didn't it have to come back down, and therefore cause another flood? Noah couldn't exactly hit ctrl + alt + del to end this process, now could he?

Most Christian Creationists seem to think the Bible must be inerrant. Yet there seem to be several aspects of the Bible that show it is not inerrant:

Leviticus 11:6 states that rabbits chew their cud.

(Also see my previous question).

1 Chronicles 16:30 and Psalm 93:1 seem to state that the earth is immobile; yet it not only revolves and orbits the sun but is also influenced by the gravitational pull of other bodies.

Also Joshua 10 tells us that it is the moon and sun that move, and not the Earth. If we read all of these literally, we must conclude that the Earth is immobile.

With this in mind, do you think the Bible should be used as a science book? Or is Genesis better seen as a story with a message about the imperfection of humanity?

Before you who say that rabbits chew their cud, I suggest you look at the definition of the word:

Perhaps this might be a silly question, and to some it will be, but it's just a thought that I am currently wondering. Many Western parents (not I!) encourage their children to believe in Santa Claus, the Easter bunny, the tooth fairy, etc. Do you suppose that continual let-down during childhood might lead to cynicism, which might lead to a lack of faith in God?
