survival of the fittest vs gene mutation what is the most likely model
could it be a combination of the two?
if its survival of the fittest has humanity reached the end of its evoulutionary path we dont need to adapt to our environment as we can make our environments adapt to us? though if gene mutation were the true model would we not exspect to see more evidence occuring before us. does either of these models fully rule out the existance of a higher being/creative force. how accurate was darwins model compared with modern reasearch(either way considering the times in which Darwin put his theory together it is very commendable)

Surely Noah did not go round up salmonella, HIV, trichomonaisis, avain influenza, polio, herpes zoster, and many many more virui and bacteria.

Also, surely he and/or his family was not infected with all these bacteria!

Surely to goodness the animals weren't infected. If they were, you can bet your cookies that the humans would catch it!

How did these bacteria and virui come to exist unless God did some more creating later on?

Its the same as your Proverbs 25:16

HeeHaw 25:16 states:
If you find strawberries, eat just enough— too much of it, and you will vomit.

I want to do a bible study at home, I plan on buying the material online and doing it with my husband. I am looking for something challenging, something that will make me think, but that isn't sooooooo crazy. I am Christian non-denominational, so something that will go along with growing in christ.

Secular Humanism appeals to me, but at the same time I would be reluctant to give up cultural traditions that I believe make life more interesting and pleasant. For example, in my father's Pennsylvania Dutch culture it is believed that it is good luck to eat pork on New Year's Day. Now, I don't I believe that it is really good luck, but I like the custom despite its superstitious nature. Would continuing this aspect of my culture go against Secular Humanist thinking?

Would it be comforting to respond to someone who is severly physically or mentally stunted, or someone with a sever handicap if they ask: why am I here, or why me? With: to test the rest of us?

TERRORIST on the word?

2007-01-11 08:06:40 · 16 answers · asked by Baba M 1

I was wondering how, with common sense and logic, someone can believe all that is told to them by a religion. This includes heaven, God, creationism, and such beliefs. I feel like it doesn't make sense that one would fully believe something to be fact just because it's existence cannot be disproved. If I were to come up with a new planet that was too far away to prove its existence, would people just undoubtedly assume it exists, just because its existence cannot be disproved? That seems to be the thought mentality with most believers. My question is, what proof or reason is there for the belief in a religion? And this is not meant to take aim at those who are religious, but rather ponder as to what makes someone have faith.

OK I am seriously confused. People come in the religion section that don't have a religion or just want to prove that their religion is right or something.
Anyone have the reason why these people feel the need to disagree with everything Christians say? If you don't believe in God then don't go to a question and just say it isn't true and stuff like that.
I am not being mean but it just confuses me so anyone have any reasons why????

it says in the bible that homosexuality is a sin and that gays and our lifestyle choices is wrong i honestly think that when the bible was being written somebody put in the bible that being gay is unatural then when people started reading the bible they believed that the scriptures where probably true and rest is history and i dont think our loving jesus christ and god would think that about gays knowing that we are born that way and didnt choose to be gay that is my two cents.

Do you know there is NOTHING in science/evolution that says that there is no God?

That's right... evolution says nothing about the existance of God and his role in a creation. It may not be possible to believe in an exact literal interpertation of Genesis, but do you really believe EVERY word of the Bible is ment to be read literally? Evolution even allows for the Christian God who answers your prayers and performs miracles.

I ask this question as the final in my little series. Almost every creationists who responded FALSELY believed that evolution denied the existance of God. Furthermore, no one gave a decent answer to ANY of my previous 12 questions. Answer them if you like; I will leave them open for as long as I can.

If you want to read more about what I'm talking about, I suggest you read the book "Finding Darwins God," by Ken Miller. He is a Christian (Cathloic) who fully understands evolution and theology and has found a way to fully believe in both.

...does one of the "christians" invariably call me a "dyke"? Is that really considered an insult anymore?

And how come the "christians" can't actually answer my question? Nine-tenths of the answers to my question are variations of personal insults! I'm asking a genuine question about how to interpret the book of "absolute truth". I should think you guys would have an answer for this.

Here's the question, if you want to take a whack at it. Otherwise, feel free to answer why the Christians call people "dykes" when they stand up for homosexuals.

Hate, intolerance, bigotry, name calling, violence... is all so un-Christ-like. Jesus demands that we LOVE. I think some Christians need a refresher course in what loving people means. You don't have to approve of what everybody does, but you do have to love them inspite of it. So many people get stuck in the judgement mode that they forget to love.
As a Christian I can't tell how embarassed it makes me when I see the behavior of some of my so called "Christian" brothers and sister when they are tyranting about muslims or gays or black people, telling AIDS jokes or using vulgar lanuage. Where is the love? Where is the Christ-like behavior? Why are you so angry? What are you trying to accomplish?
You are pushing so many people away from Christ. Don't you know that one day your going to stand face to face with Jesus and He's going to ask you why you did what you did. Why did you use His name to spread hate, violence, ignorance? What will you say when you are before Jesus?

Jesus himself came up and walked by their side, but something prevented them from recognizing him. He said to them "What matters are you discussing as you walk along?"
They stopped short, their faces downcast.

*Wait*

Sitting on the porch
Looking up at a palm tree swaying in the wind
Feeling the soft, gentle wind blowing on me
Hearing the sound of traffic
People working
Sweet songs the birds sing

The clouds are grey
the sky is white
the sun is ready
to shine on another country;
sitting here pondering
wishing I was back in IC (Ivory Coast)

All my wonderful memories I had to leave behind
I ask God why should this be
why did I have to leave IC
it was so wonderful there
this is not fair

God shines his light
and whispers in the wind to me:
"I have need of you here.
You might not see it yet,
but I do.
I will give you wonderful memories here too:
the blessings of friends,
excitement and adventure
You might not see it yet
but you will.

Have patience my child, it will come.
Do not be afraid,
I am here.
Don't feel lonely
I'm here.
I always will be."

The wind has stopped
my heart is in peace
I just have to wait and see.

There is only one creator of the universe, so it stands to reason that there is one God who created it. And because he is God there should be only one way to worship him. So with all the different religieons in the world which one does God approve of??
