The Father (God)overcame her with his Holy Spirit. The angel Gabriel said to marry "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God. You will be with child and give birth to a Son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob(Israel)forever;his kingdom will never end" Mary asked him"How will this be since I am a virgin"Gabriel said "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the Holy one to be born will be called the Son of God". Muslems past did you not understand? It is plain obvious that Jesus Christ is the only begoton on the Father.Mary was his Mother, God is his Father, what part of that do you know get? How obvious is it? I say very obvious. The angel told Mary to call him Jesus because he will save his people from their sins. What part of that do you not understand?

Don't you think there is way too much hostility in the Religious section? There are some people who are SOLELY devoted to abusing certain religions relentlessly almost as if it is their sole purpose to be here.
And I think it is so ugly that even people from other faiths are coming to rescue of other religions by asking people to stop it. I have learnt a few things from here about other religions from intelligent people and I am happy to have learnt them. But is there a way to curb this hostility, these small hateful messages some of which are almost disturbing?

when someone kind of like forces you into their religion..and what if that certain someone is your teacher? This is what happened to me :
i have this teacher who is a christian(no offence meant to christians) and she is extremely passionate abt her religion...ours is a class with almost equal no.of hindus, muslims and christians...one day in class the story of king midas came up in class and there was a line that went,'and God pleased with him, told him..', when the teacher started asking questions like "does God talk" and stuff...The puzzled class obviously didn't respond and eventually the questions became statements and finally she started mocking the hindus and their Gods....after that incident she was back to her grouchy self..until one day there was this paragrafh abt fashion when she started making fun of the muslim women and the way they dress...all these took place a couple of months ago and although most of the class were highly offended,we decided to give her another chance

Since Keith Ellison, a Black American convert to Islam, used the Quran owned by Thomas Jefferson in his recent swearing in ceremony, some people believe Jefferson owned the book because he believed in the contents.

But was this the case or did he own the book to "know his enemies" better?

Here is a quote from Joseph Wheelan's book, "Jefferson's War: America's First War on Terror," in noting Jefferson said, "Too long, for the honor of nations, have those Barbarians been [permitted] to trample on the sacred faith of treaties, on the rights and laws of human nature!"

This was after this:
Sampley writes when Jefferson was ambassador to France, and Adams was ambassador to Britain, they met in London with Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja, the ambassador to Britain from the "Dey of Algiers.

The two Americans asked Dey's ambassador why Muslims had so much hostility towards America.

Before I start I'd like to say I'm not trying to nor interested in starting a flame war; I am genuinely curious.

Ok, lets say, HYPOTHETICALY, you were given proof positive that there is no God. What would you do? how would you deal with it? and what would change in your life? whould you continue on with ideals like "love thy neighbor" and all that good stuff?

This question is intended for people who genuinely believe God exists. I've asked this to several people and I’ve gotten answers that are all over the board.

*** PLEASE if all you are going to say is "WELL THERE IS A GOD SO :-P", I am NOT interested in your opinion. Please don't try to prove to me there is a God, as that is not what I'm asking! I would truely enjoy hearing honest answers as to what you would do if the situation presented itself.

as a christian you die and find out there isnt any God (or after life), and then somehow given a chance to live again, would you live your life the way you did (Principles, Faith, values etc)?? or would you come back and live a life of 'what was known to you as sin'?

Every single day, each person in this world always has a minimum of 2 hours to spare to something...whether it's to work, play games and do whatever it is...give time to other people...etc. But how come not so many people can dedicate their time to learning about other religions...esp. the most religious ones, and the top on surveys if not on the low scaled ones? Let's say, in the very very end, those people go to hell (according to a few religions)...or let's ask this question... according to u where would they go? Do you know what happens to you after you die?

But my main questions are...why aren't people bothered to answer these questions, try to answer these questions, what keeps them away from answering these questions, and why don't they care about what will happen to them?

Issiah7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Mat:21-23 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
This is important for us because Hebrew is the key to becoming more authentically Biblical. In Hebrew, the phrase,"and she shall call his name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins," is actually a play on words. "…and she shall call His name Yeshua for He will yoshea His people…(Matt.1:21). Both are derived from the root "yesha", to save. So Yeshua means savior, the implications of which are astounding.

Please see my last 2 questions when you finish this one-I have not gotten a good answer yet about Hell, thank you.

Daniel 12:2 said hell is abhorance forever apart from heavens everlasting life

Isaiah 66 last verse says your concience never dies there

Jesus said its gnashing teeth weeping curing forever-Revelation 19-22 and tells heavens joy too
and Isaiah is the prophet that says Messiah Jesus will die for our sins and is to be the Son given and almighty God to become the prince of peace. Isaiah 52:13-53:12 & "Unto us a child will be born, a Son given, and he will be almighty God, and the prince of peace."

as born Jewish and Bar Mitzvah, I got a copy of the Jewish scriptures and the truth is there-miracle of miracles-Messiah Jesus is my savior and best friend now-
-why would he and the prophets who lived &were executed for belief in Messiah- for recieving salvation in the Messiah from sin-why would they lie?
Hell?---the worst earthly life compared to hell is heaven

I always hear people say what a beautiful story it is, and that Job's faith is so amazing.

Am I the only one who reads a story where God and Satan are playing mind games on an innocent man, doing the most horrible things to Job, taking anything away from him and in the end Job gets 10 new kids. I don't know if you ever lost a child, but replacing children really doesn't work that way.

It's like God and Satan are those 2 muppets on the balcony in this story.

Can anybody explain to me the beauty of this story, because I simply don't get it.

Babylon, Assyria, Rome, Arabs, Christians, and Hitler and what not have all oppressed the Jews by bullying them around and trying to make them change their beliefs yet the Jews still kept their faith strongly. Some bad things may have been added to their belief under all those oppressions but their core belief is rock solid. Why does everyone hate Jews so much? Jews as in the religious ones who follow the God of Abraham faithfully. At times they were lead astray but they have always come back to God and are the only ones to do so. Everyone else made up new religions cause some men claimed to be prophets of God and their religions are very strict - (Christianity & Islam) say if you don't believe in their way then you'll go to hell?

Israel is their promised land right? If Arabs believe in the same God then why don't they just let the Jews be in their promised land? Helloo...

I've heard several Christians say:

"The more scientists discover, the more proof they provide for the existence of God."

Honestly, that makes no sense to me. I see it the other way around. Someone enlighten me...

WHEN YOU HAVE A UNCLEAN SPIRIT INSIDE YOUR SOUL

2007-01-11 21:36:13 · 5 answers · asked by Anonymous

why is it that many people believe only the written scripture and ignores the oral tradition of the Church when in fact the written scripture was originaly an oral tradition of Church that was put into text.

Jesus never says anything about His Word being entirely committed to a book. In fact, Jesus never even commanded any of His apostles to write anything down.
We should follow both the Bible and the Oral Traditions of the Church.
2 Thessalonians 2:15
"So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter."
