Islam made me an atheist.

Before I learned about Islam, I was Christian. I held Christian morality in high esteem and believed in God.

After 911 I started studying Islam. I learned that Muslims, in the mainstream, are more committed to their religion than any other people. I saw that the worlds most "religious" people, believed in the world most violent and intolerant doctrine.

How could God let so many people (1.6 billlion) feel so certain about his authorship of the worlds most violent and absurd book, the Quran?

For example, Ali grows up in Pakistan. The cultural dominance of the religion gives him no choice. He never had a chance to be anything other than a Muslim. Hes brainwashed. He truely truely believes that his hatred and violence serves God.

If God existed, how could he allow such an insane state of affairs? God could have chose to not let Islam manifest, or Muhammad to have never existed.

Islam didnt have to be, but it is, therefore God doesnt exist.

it is mind boggling. no offense, but it is quite dumb to believe that there is no higher deity at work. how do atheists go about their business without keeping an open mind. we are in control of ourselves and the path we take but there is no question in my mind that there is a god. how do you explain the superficial things we experience in life? the miracles, etc. and if there if no god how come a vast majority of the world's population have a belief in something. in my opinion, it just seems like atheists are lost, confused, stubborn, or frustrated by the believers, there are alot of reasons why atheists are atheists. ultimately, there is definitely something at work here. one of the universal truths in life: there is a god and im not him. so if there are any atheists out there whats the deal? it is a fact that atheists are treated the worst in our society more than any other characteristic. im just wonderin why atheist lose the label and at least are agnostic. stop shutting it out.

****I couldn't fit the word some into the title of my question, sorry****

I had a client in my office preaching to me today.

He asked me if I was a Christian and I said no (Big mistake)

He kept pointing things out that he just learned as if he was dropping the wisdom of the ages on me.

Explaining the alternative theories of Genesis and what not

I told him I already knew all that stuff.

After he was done preaching he said he could tell I was really interested in knowing about God because if I wasn't I wouldn't have listened to him talk.

Why are some Christians so convinced that just because you know about their religion you will convert or you are seeking their god?

We evolved past ZUES we evolved past QUETZALCOATL, we evolved past ISIS, we evolved past AHURA-MAZDA, etc etc....

When we evolve into the next phase of religiosity, will humanity create a hybrid god, perhaps "Goallah" Maybe MoJesus?

im an atheist because science has proven evolution fact. i dont understand why some people are offended by the word evolutionist though. ive heard it said evolutionist is an attempt to turn evolution into a religion. how exactly? does the word biologist turn biology into a religion. chemist/chemestry physicist/physics. no so why do some studiers of evolution get offended by the term evolutionist you can call me it all you like i suspect they dont understand language adding ist to the end of a worm is not an attempt to turn a science into a religion.

Does anyone believe that divorce is a sin no matter what the circumstances?

If you do, then are all divorcees (no matter why they got divorced) going to Hell forever if they don't repent?

I want to have a fair and balanced discussion about Islam to include everyone as well as Muslims.

My issue is that when anyone who has a legitimate difference of opinion of Islam or a question that may seem critical of Islam... Muslims automatically say the person is a liar or biased against Islam or something worst.

So Muslims can you point me to a website that you can safely say is neither pro-islam nor biased against Islam and simply a place where people can discuss Islam openly and fairly... perhaps intelligently debate the issues?

Or are you only aware of Muslim run ProIslam biased websites?

Okay, so I really am not sure if God exists. I'm Jewish so don't start spewing this "Jesus is the son of god!" stuff cause he isn't. I want REAL PROOF. I don't want only verses from the bible or something. Prove to me He exists. If you don't think God exists give proof that He doesn't. I will pick the answer that most persuades me to that persons point of view as best answer.

Biblical terms that meant something in an era of feudal empires made more sense than they do in a modern democracy. Most of the terms for God (such as "LORD") were actually terms meant for royalty. Others refer to animal sacrifices that were common then but have all but vanished today.

How would Christians then take some of the following terms and make them as relevant for modern society as they were for the society that first used them?

Lord

Lamb of God

Crown of Glory

Sanctify

Son of Man

The Eternal Fire

Kingdom of God

Righteousness

Wine in new wineskins

The Good Shepherd

Where did the moon come from? is that in there? I doubt it.
Why are some flowers pink while the others are yellow? Is that in there? hmmmm nope. My point is this. If you are trying to sell me on the factual truth of the bible. BACK IT UP! If you cant, then YOU ARE THE LOST ONE

It says a number of times in the bible that God needed a blood sacrafice to remove sin. It also says he was upset about animal sacrafices so he gave his only son, Jesus. If God was such a loving and understanding God then why would he need any sacrafice at all?

She is always talking about church and her church friends, and her religion, and the bible,
she gives me countless books about her religion, constant religious e mails and Republican propaganda and even insulted my born religion (Catholicism).

What gives her the right to insult my born religion and try to push her religion on me?
I thought Christians are supposed to feel persecuted? But yet I don't say a word, I am polite and I tolerate her opinions,
but I don't share my own or push my opinions on her because I know she wouldn't be able to handle the arguments, and I wouldn't want to put her in that position, nor do I feel like debating something I feel is so worthless and dumb when neither one of our minds will change and will cause bad blood.

Now, is she a good "witness" to Christ? Or am I actually choosing to be the better one here?

Generally aren't all generalizations false?

There are many people scared of heights so why aren't there many people scared of widths? ( I Know I Am. Fat people creep me out.)

Have you noticed that the weaker our arguments are the stronger the words we have to use?

If God is love and love is blind then isn't it a logical conclusion that God is blind? And if so how could God make man in his own image?

If the pen is mightier than the sword then how can actions speak louder than words?

Don't you think the chicken came first? Wouldn't God look rather silly sitting on an egg?

Who cares whether the glass is half full or half empty? Shouldn't the question be who’s been drinking out of my glass?

Why isn't it OK to fall asleep in Church? After all, didn't God rest on the seventh day as well?

Why don't people realize that going to church doesn't make them a Christian any more than going to a garage makes them a mechanic?
