We should have wings, rows of teeth, impenetrable skin, gills, webbed feet, and so on. Instead we are left with extremely weak skin and a brain. True the brain can create things that do those advancements but at the cost of the planet. Kinda stupid for the planet to create something that destroys itself. yay we made an airplane so now we can fly. woops sorry about that massive pollution and use of fossil fuels. You kinda have to agree that animals have alot of things humans don't have, that evolution says they should have.

How do you explain the fossil record?

Fossils come in distinct layers of rock that differ greatly from one another. If we look in the lowest (presumably the oldest) layers, we find a world of fossils with organisims that have little in common with the ones present on the earth today. As we go to younger (higher) layers, fossils become more like the organisims of today. There are no flowering plants in the oldest fossils; there are no birds or mammals. It is clear that the vast majority of the Earths history of life was very different than it is today. How do you account for the dramatic changes?

(An answer to this is NOT "fossils can't be trusted because tree fossils have been found that span many feet of rock" - those are rare local events caused by a one-time rapid deposit of sediment.)

I am not joking. He is a great man in these troubling times.
A man who has no fear of the self-rightous!
A man to be looked up to!
A master of truth and reason in an era of ignorance!

How did he become so great?

Example:
(Exodus 12:29) At midnight the LORD struck down all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh who sat on his throne to the firstborn of the prisoner who was in the dungeon, and all the firstborn of the livestock.

Or how about the flood? He DROWNED thousands or millions of babies. Try to imagine that. Now tell me why god is good.

I have church-going Protestant friends who maintain that you don't have to believe in a literal interpretation of the Virgin Birth and the Ascension in order to be a Christian. They say those events are metaphorical or symbolic. It seems to me that if you don't accept these two critically important events literally, then you don't believe in the divinity of Christ. Without the divinity of Christ there can be no Christian religion. Help me out here.

I read an interfaith article on "Holy Envy". A Rabbi and a Minister talked about what they envied in each others faith. It was rather interesting.

Please forgive me and if you don't, then what can I say? Do as you please.

i know that this might seem like a silly, irreverent question, but i assure you, it has as much bearing as any other question on the R/S section has, as far as finally coming to a concensus about the veracity of faith and the importance of reason.

First Question:

Is the controversy between these two topics warranted on any factual basis (living things sharing DNA, but not originating one from another), or does the controversy simply disguise the ongoing dispute between the two opposing forces of atheism and religion?

Second Question:

How does the dating of fossils go from hypothesis to theory/fact?
