I read an interfaith article on "Holy Envy". A Rabbi and a Minister talked about what they envied in each others faith. It was rather interesting.

Amazing that so far the most open and honest answer is from a atheist

Interesting question. Perhaps "envy" was too strong a word for some people's tastes, but I get what you're asking.
I think I would agree with the previous poster about the Amish. To truly live simply, without all the clutter that dominates our lives... of course, I don't know any Amish personally, so maybe they envy our cell phones and electric razors, I don't know...
I also envy the genealogical records of the Mormons. I recently discovered a very detailed genealogy record for my dad's mom, which was really amazing, but I'd love to know the history of all my ancestors.

Good question. I wouldn't use the word envy, but there are some things I like and admire about other religions. Like the Wiccan's rede about harming no one and they way they are so tolerate. The Buddhists and their meditation rituals. The Satanists and they're bluntness about the nature of things. The history of Hellenismos. I also admire Atheism (even though it's not a religion or faith) because most Atheists I know are very intelligent and think for themselves.

I don't really envy any other religion at all. I do admire some though like the AMISH. They makes huge sacrifices (no running water, electricity, etc) and don't use any modern convenience. I personally would never choose to do that so I admire them that they do what they believe even when it irritates the snot out of the rest of society.

I don't have a faith of my own, but I envy wiccans/pagans. They seem to exude such a sense of peace and community and harmony with nature. And although I'm an atheist, I find their beliefs (varied as they are) make more sense to me than others.

well if one follows a religion.... wouldn't they be happy with it? otherwise they wouldn't follow it... and well if they are happy with it.. then why would they have envy of another religion? if they really envied it then why don't they just change?
Look, just because someone says they are pleased with their religion and are not envious... how can u say they are insecure. actually its the opposite... they truly believe in their religion and don't care about others.
As you can tell i am one of those who is proud of my religion and no i am not envious of any other religion.

I envy absolutely nothing outside of my Druid path. I have everything I need emotionally, mentally and spiritually right where I am.

They were being P.C, at least I hope. No self-respecting, God-fearing person would envy anything, much less another faith. God is jealous...He is not to be trifled with.

I am Protestant, but there is sometimes a lack of history there. Judaism and Catholicism have this.
