One day the oil will run out. Then the arabs will have nothing but sand
The Jews in Israel have something far more valuable: Brains. In the last 60 years, the Israelis, about 7 million people surrounded by hundreds of millions of arab/moslems, have built a powerhouse of an export economy, with an annual GDP of close to $150 billion dollars. That's a per capita GDP of $25,000 per person. Even Saudi Arabia, with all it's oil has a per capita GDP of only $13,000 per person.
The Jews are smart in that they developed a long-term economic plan. When the oil runs out, the Israelis won't have anything to worry about.
One other comparison: Israel controls a total of 28,000 square kilometers of territory. This is in contrast to the 3,700,000 square kilometers controlled by it's Arab/Moslem neighbors. The Arabs control 99.25% of the Middle East. Why does the world say that Israel needs to give half of their territory over to the Arabs?
Why is it OK to have over 50 moslem countries, yet the world says that it's against international law to allow 1 single jewish country to exist?
The world can think what it wants to, they think that they can control the world through their own actions. People of faith know better: God alone controls the world, not people, and he has apparently decided to let Israel become a prosperous nation.

Do you really think Israel cannot be the promised land because they do not have oil. Oil has only been a valuable commodity for the past 100 years. In Biblical time, the promised land was a part of the fertile crescent and the land was valuable because with all the desert land in the area the fertile crescent was an area with fertile soil that could grow crops and maintain food for a civilization.

No doubt, some Arabs have lived in the area of the Mandate of Palestine for many centuries, but not as many of them as had the Jews. What is more, Jews had lived in Arab lands since times preceding Islam itself. And yet, these Jews in Arab lands were never regarded as citizens of the Arab lands they lived in and were unceremoniously expelled in the years subsequent to Israel's establishment. In other words, residency alone did not confer national rights on those who inhabited an area. Nor did it make a people out of congeries of Arabs and other nationalities that had come to the area of the Mandate of Palestine while the Jewish people were restricted. The nations of the world recognized this after World War I when the League of Nations determined that the geographical area called Palestine was to become a homeland for the Jewish people, the people that had been continuously associated with this land since ancient times when it was known as Judea and Samaria.

The real promised land is in southern Florida. Everyone knows that.
After the great exile, the Jews went to what is now Palestine, and said that God gave them the land, so they are entitled to it.
Can they prove it? No,neither can anyone else disprove it. That is the basis for the crisis that has existed there for over 3,000 years. Having the USA give Israel nuclear weapons does not settle it. All we have done is upset the natural balance of life. The only thing the Arabs have going for them is the oil.
That is why we are in Iraq today. We thought giving Israel the weapons would settle the region, it only served to stir the pot.

Israel and her people, though "chosen" doesn't necessarily mean they were chosen for an easy going, smooth sailing existance, although there are many unquestionable blessings from God, which Israel and her people have experienced through the ages.
Israel and her people were chosen to become the MIRROR to the rest of the world's shortcomings, failures, sins and even humble submissions and accomplishments of holy and righteous living. (We all struggle to do the right!)
God has chosen them to be the example of what to do and what not to do, much like a big brother or sister can pave the way for siblings.
If we observe Israel carefully, then we discover parallels to our very own existance and if we are honest with outselves as individuals and as separate nations, then we are brought to our knees and humbly beg forgiveness in order to receive healing.
Hence the verse in 2 Chronicles 7:14 where God says,
"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

It is the promised land, that's why the Palestinians have not been able to take it away from Israel. About them being God people, well NO not now, they will be when they stop rejecting Christ and the make him their Savior.

The "Promissed Land" was a prototype of the Kindom of Heaven of which Christ said it was at hand when He went on His public ministry.
Nothing has changed sinse then. We are still calling ourselves Israel and consider Moses our great father, who together with other saints is leading us to the promissed land.

Genesis 17:16-18,20
And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her:yea, I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of people shall be of her.17 Then Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, and said in his heart, Shall a child be born unto him that is an hundred years old? and shall Sarah, that is ninety years old, bear?18 And Abraham said unto God, O that Ishmael might live before thee!
20 And as for Ishmael I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitfull, and will multiply him exceedingly: twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.
Thus the oil.

Israel WAS the "promised land" for a season. The True promised land is Heaven and that is for the real jews - those who believe in Jesus as their Messiah. We don't need oil in heaven.
