Lately I read so many people saying the Quran would teach violence. Please read this:

http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/cruelty/long.html

Normaly it is not my style to post "just something" from the net, but I see it a couple times done tonite when it comes up to the Quran.

Question: If it comes up to violence against people of other faith, is the Bible really the better book?

just wondering where it says in the bible that if a person does not beleive in jesus as his'her savior that they are going to Hell. And I mean specifically hell cause I don want to here about damnantion and all that stuff cause they could be talking about something else.

I am asking, because to me, hell, is your life on Earth after you make a bad choice. When you do something wrong you dont go to hell when you die. Your life becomes hell immediately.

Some Muslims insist that Muhammad should not be judged by our culture today. But what we are dealing with goes far deeper than cultural practices. Muhammad established a cultural "norm". This practice of taking young girls continues to exist in the Muslim world today.

Muhammad had the ability to change and shape the culture of the people who followed him or submitted to him. He taught his followers to follow his lifestyle, i.e., to have their culture centered around his way of life. If it was good enough for Muhammad to take a young girl, then it is okay for Muslim men today to do this.

You don't think we've heard it enough? Are we all of a sudden going to believe there even is a Hell if you continue to say it? We are very much aware that you believe we are going to this place you call Hell... it doesn't make one bit of difference to us.

Just so you realize, i'm not complaining because i'm tired of hearing it... i just thought you should know that we aren't affected by it one bit, in fact it makes me laugh a little every time i see it. I thought it wasn't Christ-like to be judgemental?

If you don't believe in God, or any other spiritual figure, then how do you know what is right or wrong? If we are just a bunch of cells put together by some random chance, and if we survived by natural selection, then really there are no rules. Who is to say that murder is wrong, or that stealing isn't OK. We can create laws that say what the majority thinks should happen, but really how do you honestly tell someone that something they did is wrong.
I am not trying to be rude or ignorant, I honestly am interested in peoples opinions.
If we come across a culture that has no laws and they sacrifice children as a ritual, can you really say that they are wrong? It isn't a law to them, so why is it wrong?
I think it is wrong, and it seems obvious to me, but that is because I believe in God and his teachings.

Christians believe when they die they go to heaven(good place). They believe when non-christians die they go to hell(bad place).

Atheists believe when they die they go to the grave and no afterlife. They believe even christians will go to the grave with no afterlife.

My question is, why not take a "chance" for a better afterlife? when a christian dies nothing bad will happen to him either way. Doesnt that seem better than the "chance" of having a bad afterlife? I just want to know how you feel about it.

Most of the embryos for this research are the frozen left over embryos from invitro fertilization procedures.

By left over, I mean that these embryos will not ever be used to implant for pregnancy.

The religious objection to embryonic stem cell research is that it is killing human life.

The alternative to using these embryos in medical research is to throw them in the trash can.

Does throwing them in the trash can somehow make the embryo any less dead in comparison to the medical research?

So, religious people, what should it be, the trash can or the research lab?

When did you start to think..."what is it that I truly believe"

Mine happened when I was sitting in church when I was around 18...and I realized that I felt absolutely nothing. The words meant absolutely nothing to me. Well, except when the priest gave his sermon that related to real-life, but technically that didn't really have anything to do with a certain religion. I still have very strong moral values, but I don't connect them with a religion.

I understand you call yourself an ex-Christian makes you more credible because it makes you look like you have all the answers to say that Christianity is false because you went through the motions, and went to church every Sunday for umteen years, thus the ex-Christianship right? You studied the Bible all those years, and you talked to the wall all those years, yet one day had a rude awakening that it was all false! Doesn't the fact that you are now an "ex-Christian" ruin your credibility as an atheist because you are kind of like a tossing confused person that has had no real solidity to anything even when you were a Christian? I mean you were talking to the wall for how many years before you realized you never really encountered the living Christ or accepted a living faith? How amazingly sad. Because if it God and the faith was initially living to you then you would know that it was in fact alive and real, correct? Why, all of a sudden the complete atheism?
