Well, when I started reading the bible with understanding, I was shocked and pleased to see every kind of situation I've ever struggled with, explained and resolved. I felt such a sense of validation among other things, like hope for the future.

Umm, either the person who told you that or you are WAY out of context. Reading the bible on a regular basis is a great way to enhance your spiritual life. And once that becomes stronger, everything else will fall into place. That DOES NOT mean that life will be easy or you will always have lots of friends. But it does mean that the things that matter will become a bit clearer to you. If that happens, i think your priorities will be straightened out.
About saying something "of revelance or charismatic", the Bible says that if you begin to share the Gospel, the Holy Spirit will speak thru you.

I started reading the Bible about 2 years ago, and I didn't think I was soaking much in, but now I can hold a conversation and understand all the jokes and what not. I think it is slow and steady. You might not notice right away that you are remembering stuff, but it is a long term goal not a short term one. I hope I answered what you were asking, I wasn't quite sure of your question.

You have been misinformed.
Reading the Bible will not give you automatically relevant knowledge or make you charismatic in your personallity.
Being a Christian means that you are forgiven of your sins, and that you have certain promises from God.
For instance, you have this promise from Jesus:
John 14:3
"If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also."
and
John 14:28
"You heard that I said to you, 'I go away, and I will come to you.' If you loved Me, you would have rejoiced because I go to the Father, for the Father is greater than I."

What the reading, learning and applying bible to your daily life does for you is it teaches you how to see the world the way that God sees the world. Your world view and how you view and value your own life is changed as you learn to see yourself and others the way God sees you and those around you.
One of the results of the daily disciplines of reading the bible, having an active and consistent prayer life and regularly giving praise and thanksgiving to God is that His light of life and love is clearly seen by others in you and they will be drawn to you. It is in working at and building your one on one personal relationship with God by doing the above that brings about this kind of result. It is important to remember that God will not be mocked and knows our heart. It is when we reflect, represent and honor God with our thought life and our actions that we are able to live life abundantly.

Well, I never knew the Bible to make one charismatic to help with the social life. Most people study the Bible to develop and closer relationship to God. God is interested in your life, who you marry, where you work, so study the Bible to get to know God and ask Him to help you live and have all that you need. God Bless

Pray to God, get on a rountine of praying every day, thanking God for everything he's given to you, then ask HIM for help, ask him to guide you to HIS will. Read your Bible daily too, even if it is just a verse.
What you may think help is may not be what God thinks help is. So don't expect something to come quickly. It may take a while, It's in God's time!

Reading the Bible will draw you nearer to God's heart and His will. You will get to know Him better. Prayer will also help in this area.
Once we get our relationship with God right...everything else falls into place.
Work on your relationship with God and at the same time...it will help with the rest of your relationships as well.

It seems like you want bible knowledge for the wrong reasons, therefore it may not be granted. With bible knowledge, as in "true" bible knowledge, many worries and concerns melt away. A study proved that people who attend religious services regularly live 20% longer than the rest. Also, you avoid bad situations more frequently, and you react differently to outside influences which may save your life someday. I'm tough but I don't feel as though I have to show it (for example).
The greatest reward for me is having the ability to show my appreciation to Jehovah for the life I have, the food I eat, the home I own, and the health of my brain and limbs. Just as I feel good when I show my mother appreciation for her love that she freely gave to me even when I didn't deserve it. The bible teaches me how to show appreciation to God, my family, and my neighbor. It teaches me that my hope does not lay in the hands of presidents and kings. My hope is in the greatest hands of all, Jehovah's.

I have found that the book of Proverbs helps you out alot in day to day situations. It is full of wisdom.
The word of God and prayer, as well as following him fills you with alot of light which people can see.
