Christians believe when they die they go to heaven(good place). They believe when non-christians die they go to hell(bad place).

Atheists believe when they die they go to the grave and no afterlife. They believe even christians will go to the grave with no afterlife.

My question is, why not take a "chance" for a better afterlife? when a christian dies nothing bad will happen to him either way. Doesnt that seem better than the "chance" of having a bad afterlife? I just want to know how you feel about it.

majority of you misunderstood my question. but thats ok, you have your beliefs. I didnt say you have to "fake" believing in God. I said, just believe. All that means is believe he exists. That doesnt mean you have to go to church, or pray, or do anything else, except believe he exists. You can be saved just from that alone.

And the argument of belief in other Gods is silly since Muslims believe in the same God as Christians & Jews. Do your homework. Buddists & Hindus dont believe in an afterlife, just reincarnation. And other religions like Greek mythology is less than 1% of the population of the planet. Im talking about the top 3 religions all believe in the same God. But most of you dont get it and no one has answered this question properly. Oh well.

I am so SICK of Pascals Wager!!! It is a worthless argument.

If you take it to it's logical limits, I suppose BOTH people should be worried. What if Christians should've worshiped Baal? What if they should've worshiped Krishna or Ninsun? What about Lord Ganesha? What about Zeus, Odin, Osiris, etc?

Aren't YOU worried that maybe you picked the wrong god?

No?

Then why should atheists worry about picking none at all?

To some it is more comforting when something comes to an end instead of endlessness. Read Dante’s Inferno.

Also I believe that many Christians falter with one aspect of going to heaven: I know many that Judge others and do not believe that the Judging they are doing is wrong, the Bible states that God has this power and those who do judge are sinning, if they do not believe that they are sinning then they cannot be forgiven.

Why care about Atheists and what happens to them, if you just believe that because they do not accept a religion that has no physical proof, they will burn in the fires of hell.

It is harder for most to give up their beliefs than ones life.

I am not an Atheist but have studied the worlds religions most of my life, and I have found that Christianity can become overwhelming, egotistical, profit driven, and hypocritical. The good Christians don’t Judge and do not preach.

I'm not very confident there are any true atheists. Here's what I mean: if I were an atheist, I'm not sure if I'd continue living a routine, regular way of life - paying bills, going to work, etc. Why? Tomorrow, I might die. If I'm an atheist, and I do not believe in an afterlife, than what am I doing with the time I have right now? Every minute I spend doing what I hate is a minute wasted, because at anytime my life could end. It happens everyday, all day - people from the cradle to the elderly dying in car wrecks, illness, suicide, you name it. Death comes at anytime at any age. So wouldn't I be wasting time continuing my routine life?

That's my take. What do u think?

I am Christian. We believe that EVERYONE goes to heaven. Not just christians. We believe that only the very, very worst of bad people go to spirit prison then hell. Everyone else goes to different levels of heaven based on their comfort level and works.

So WHY not take a "chance" on an even BETTER afterlife? When you die you will be in a better place. If you knew what that life would be like now, you would not want to wait till natural death to be there.

I uncover wish and inside peace within the fact that there is not any loopy vengeful god who's going to ever punish myself or any of the men and women I love or maintain simply considering we're too wise to shop for right into a lie that preys at the vulnerable and cowardly sheeple of this global. I are not able to even fathom eternity allow on my own have a want to revel in it, irrespective of what it would entail. I used to be no longer alive for an eternity and I do not fear approximately repeating the non-revel in. This existence is infinitely quick in staying power while in comparison to the tremendous image. It is particularly an revel in. Some exotic and a few horrible. It's truly, and but incomprehensible. Religion and god trivialize the revel in for my part. I are not able to recognize how any person in nowadays of age are nonetheless so superstitious. They had an excuse 1000's of years in the past, however, with all the clinical capabilities to be had at present there is not any excuse. Religion breeds immorality. The quality men and women from a ethical and moral point of view are the Atheists and the Agnostics for my part.

I don't see the point about faking a belief in something that I don't have. I've known christians and they're belief in god affected their thoughts in other ways that I found to be unreasonable (for example they might justify something as "god's will" or that's what the bible says, and I would be thinking "I totally disagree with you! because of this scientific reason").

Besides what's the point here? Why shouldn't everyone believe what the Buddhist's preach "just in case" they're right. How about the muslims, maybe we should all convert to Islam in case they're right. Where does it end and why?

These days I think religious people need to justify their beliefs. It used to be that people believed in god because the concept explained a lot of things that people didn't know anything about. This is not true anymore so the concept of god doesn't have any function except to comfort people that there is some sort of life after death. I wouldn't have a problem with this per se, but it seem religious people a more than willing to do horrendous things to other people for this belief. I don't know of any atheists blowing up buildings, or killing hundreds of people because his atheist beliefs.

not at all any body that believes a single person of a higher power put us here. is hitting the crack pipe alittle too often and engaging in what people call a cult. Even though evolution has been proven. People still believe that there is a god. Sure its good to think but nothing will happen. They will be very upset when they die most of them will not believe it and end up being reincarnated as a turd on the bottom of someones shoe for being so stupid to believe that there is a magical person that is so nice and forgives everyone for anything except non Christan's lol sounds dumb doesn't it. god is going to be chillin in the room next to the tooth fairy and Santa clause oh and dont forget the boogie man too. hahah

I asked my father ( an extreme athiest,- he sais and I quote " I wouldn't follow Jesus Christ across the street) the same thing when I was little. His answer is this... If god is all knowing won't he realize that my belief is only an insurance policy that I obtain an after life? Basically..you will get into heaven by being full of faith and belief right? And if you believe it just to get in to 'heaven' an all powerful god who knows everything will realize that and it will make for an insincere life. I think it's a good question tho

The answer is that while christians 'believe' there is a heaven, Atheists 'know' there is no heaven (to the extend that anyone can 'know' anything considering the impossibility of proving a negative) If you hold a red ball in front of a man in a dark room and tell him he'll go to heaven if he has faith that it is a blue ball, he will invariable say he has faith because he has nothing to lose and he has no reason to think it's not blue. Turn on the lights and suddenly the 'faith' can't even be faked any more. That's where Atheists are - we have knowledge that removes any possibility of heaven. Christians are still standing in the dark.

Your question makes me laugh.

'They believe even christians will go to the grave with no afterlife.' Are you saying that since you're Christian, you should have special benefits, even in other religions? Man, not meaning to be rude, but that made me smile.

But, many of the responses are bad responses. 'An atheist doesn't believe in God so he can cuss, drink, stay up late Sundays, and cheat on his wife or husband' is not an appropriate answer and is highly rude and derogatory. I know several 'Christians' who abuse their spouse and are terrible people.

If Christianity is supposed to teach peace and love, why will it not teach understanding and acceptance? Any religion like that which is so hypocritical is one I want nothing to do with.

Oh no, everyday with this, here's my answer:

What if you're only half right, and Jesus is a false idol, imagine how angry God is that 2 billion people are calling this plain man "God."

Eternity lasts forever sinners.

And really what if you're right, how good can heaven be. You can't get drunk, or have sex, and if you do get married, forever becomes a real long time, and you could never get divorced. Face it, heaven would just be a whole lot of God worshiping, so really I'm worried you are right, maybe Satan is just having a big party, maybe I hope you are right, and me Satan and the other 5 billion or so sinners will be having a great time. Hope you have fun praising God for eternity sucker.
