Luke never claimed to be a prophet or inspired by God .. He also was not an apostle of Jesus .. christians say he was an apostle of Paul but no evidence for thei claim.

Lately I've been confused. I feel like something is missing. Well, no. I don't know what I feel. And I don't know, but perhaps a little spirituality might do the trick?

I am not religious, but if someone gives me an appealing coax - who knows?

So far I have always been an atheist. But I find the atheist crowd a little conceited and arrogant and cold for my liking.

Am I a pagan? If so.. am I asatru or a druid or what? Do I instead like the sound of Islam? The Buddha was a nice guy. And those Hindu people seem friendly. If I were to go to the Hari Krishna's then I'd get a free meal though. Oh!

Is it even necessary at all or am I just seeking to fill a gap where, I don't know, a good episode of Doctor Who might work just as well?

Where are the virtues in practicing religion?

Atheists admit that atheism is not a religion. They also say God does not exist. So why are non-theists in a theist section? Should they be in some other section instead like Philosophy or Humanities? Is it productive to have them here? Do we need their input?

don't you think its about time people stop taking what one person did and say all the people from the faith are like that?i find that many of the times people will take an extremist Muslim and then say all Muslim are like that.and i don't think its fair.

like for example i just read a question about how some sheikh in australia was basically justifying rape.and then the people started to say all muslims are like that.
isn't that genralization?and how come when a christian leader says something that's out of line but no one lumps all christians together.isn't that double standards?

If a person feels that their moral upbringing was causing them problems, do you feel that it would be okay for them to change lives, so to speak? That is, imagine a new past that would provide them a stronger (albeit superficial) emotional foundation, so long as they don't outright abandon their family and still seek to atone for any wrongs they had done in their past?

( femal captives ) and also ownd slaves which he did not married, and he also instructed the muslims in the following suras ,that its ok to marry slaves (" female captive","what ur right hand possess), or to have sexual intercourse with them .
79:30. Except with their wives and the (women slaves and captives) whom their right hands possess, for (then) they are not to be blamed,"

4:24. "Also (forbidden are) women already married, except those (captives and slaves) whom your right hands possess. Thus has Allah ordained for you-"

33:50. "O Prophet (Muhammad SAW)! Verily, We have made lawful to you your wives, to whom you have paid their Mahr (bridal money given by the husband to his wife at the time of marriage), and those (captives or slaves) whom your right hand possesses - whom Allah has given to you-"
Please no retard answers like ..."it was only for those times " ..becouse u muslims say Quran it is a guide for all the times and all mankind.

I have been trying to read the Bible, King James version. I find it terribly boring & difficult to even get into. I can't even get past Matthew. Can anyone who has actually read the entire Bible offer any advice or should I just forget about it. Am I doing something wrong or do you have to be a believer to read the Bible? I would like to read it I just do not think I am as interested as I thought I would be.

yes, this may sound silly, but i just recently saw a cloud this evening that was in the shape of a dragon. the head was very clear, i could see it's eyes and it's nose had a point to it - hard to describe but it wasn't like a beak of a bird but was verticle, not horozontal. anyways, the neck was in an "s" shape and i could see only part of the body. it had something that looked like wings but i couldn't see them very clearly. on an added note, as the cloud was moving, as crazy as this was, it looked as though there would have been smoke coming from it's mouth. very odd, but interested in anyone who may have an idea on the meaning behind it.

I worshiped Jesus all my life but recently I began to notice that there is much more evil in the world then good. I had a best friend who was diagnosed with a mental disorder. He was allways depressed and told me that he felt like he lived in hell. He tried various doctors but none of them helped. One doctor prescribed him some anti depressant drugs, but they gave him such terrible side effects and he commited suicide.
I stopped believing in god after that. I feel like satan is in charge of the world. Everything around me is fake, going to church is like bagging for a dime on a street corner.

Have any of you ever thought about witnessing The Gospel of Jesus Christ to prisoners in prison that are serving 10 - 20 years or so?

Why are there very few, if any, genuine questions and answers regarding religion under the religious posts? It seems like all people ever seem to do is criticize each others beliefs. Why don't we get real and start asking genuine questions - if a question is not related to your religion then keep out and only post genuine questions that you believe in? I would love to discuss religious questions with like-minded people but right now I can't trust these boards because they are so filled with criticism and flaming. I have posted a few answers to people who I believe are genuine in their questions but cn't we have more of this instead of pulling each other apart?
