Why are there very few, if any, genuine questions and answers regarding religion under the religious posts? It seems like all people ever seem to do is criticize each others beliefs. Why don't we get real and start asking genuine questions - if a question is not related to your religion then keep out and only post genuine questions that you believe in? I would love to discuss religious questions with like-minded people but right now I can't trust these boards because they are so filled with criticism and flaming. I have posted a few answers to people who I believe are genuine in their questions but cn't we have more of this instead of pulling each other apart?

Thanks, I am getting some really great answers here, it seems like not everyone here is out to tear other religions apart. Let's see if all of us can make a difference to this board. Most are excellent so I am not sure which to choose as best yet.

Peace!
I agree with you! I believe we should promote better tolerance and understanding among people of different religious persuasions in this section. Sometimes though when your religion is attacked you can't help but fight back.
Another point I would like to make is whether atheists should be in this section. They admit they do not believe God exists. They also admit atheism is not a religion, so why are they in a Religion and Spirituality section? Shouldn't they be in the Philosophy or Humanities section instead? Is it productive to have them here? Do we need their input?

Yes, you're sooo right. The questions asked under the religion category are often very rude and offensive to others. I've decided NEVER to ask religious questions on here. I mean, I can always get the answers from better sources of whatever religion I'm asking about. I don't know how it's pleasurable to disrespect others, you know? Simply, if the question doesn't apply to you, why answer?
Well, let's hope they'll grow up soon!

Well, here's the thing. You don't have to read every question. And you certainly don't need to reply to every question.

I doubt very much that the folks who come here to be argumentative will stop because it bothers anyone else.

Keep being selective for yourself - that's about the only thing you can do. And when you find yourself too annoyed, walk away from the computer. There's a whole big world out there!

Because most people discussing relevant issues DO NOT KNOW WHAT A DIALOGUE IS or HOW TO PROCEED WITH GOOD INTENTIONS WISELY & INTELLECTUALLY DISCUSSING SUCH SENSETIVE ISSUES...

If you & I have Different opinions on any issue, it does not necessarily HAVE TO mean you are right and I am wrong..., but HOW TO GET CONVINCED with OTHERS' OPINIONS and to be ready to LISTEN EFFECTIVELY and start a real dialogue will get you there somehow...

If people bear ONE THING in mind-that is, "I AM NOT GOING INTO THIS CONVERSATION FOR THE SAKE OF ARGUMENT ONLY, BUT FOR GETTING THE BEST OUT OF IT" then this is a good start; otherwise, you are not even prepared to accept the others WHATSOEVER...

People need to be entertained with MATURED THINKING...

That's it...

Classically, and being serious here, a big part of some of the more mainstream religions is the ridicule and dismissal of the beliefs of others. These flamers are just keeping said traditions alive.

I think there have been some pretty thoughtful answers in this section, but there's also a lot of slamming.

But the topic is loaded, you know. This is probably the best it can get. So toughen up that skin, and ask another question!

Already proved your point, did you?

hehe!

I am certainly genuine, am I not? I don't criticize, I encourage thought... then people tell me... oh, thought is the work of the devil... plah! I think that it would be appropriate to separate Spirituality from Religion so that we might be able to converse without noise.

Sincerely you're asking the impossible. There is always going to be people who solely come on here to bash other religions. But as long as you stick to truthfulness, and ask questions that are genuine, don't worry about them.

i'm suprised that you categorised Hindus as "something" on your question as a million out of each and every 3 human beings in this planet is a Hindu. shows how a lot you recognize. Now in conserving such as your question, human beings believe of their gods, regardless of their faith may be because they have had inner question in which the solutions they got here upon were addressed with information from different religions. i had to be certain what existence as an atheist changed into like. So i changed into going to push aside all religious doctrines and different philosophies no count number number how open ended they were and stay my existence with the aid of the indisputable fact that's, composed of a complicated blend of carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, phosphorous and hydrogen of which make up carbohydrates, proteins and nucleic acids, the construction blocks of biology. The humorous element about atheism is that in spite of surpassed off, even if solid or undesirable, I had to for some reason tried to placed which skill into it without accepting the solid fortune as a present. This made me bitter and bigger cynical. As I spent an complete 12 months being atheist and putting round different athiest, i got here upon myself and those human beings to be very bitter, condenscending, cynical and unappreciative human beings and to top all of it conceited because they imagine they understand the answer to each and everything. at the same time as athiets despise christians, you human beings are nonetheless no distinct to them because athiets impose their perspectives on human beings and dont appreciate the persons love for his or her own god. I were given ill of being a cynical athiest and went decrease back to my HIndu fold and that i need to assert issues sense alot better. I not sense as bitter, cynical and conceited as I did at the same time as i changed into an athiest. i'm sorry however the total idea of athiesm looks boring, dull and does not provide desire in any respect because a minimum of for us, we've something to look ahead to and that there is better to this complete massive expansive universe than this mere one mortal body that lives purely once and decays after we die. Doesnt sound like the life-style i might want to take exhilaration in -Muski
