don't you think its about time people stop taking what one person did and say all the people from the faith are like that?i find that many of the times people will take an extremist Muslim and then say all Muslim are like that.and i don't think its fair.

like for example i just read a question about how some sheikh in australia was basically justifying rape.and then the people started to say all muslims are like that.
isn't that genralization?and how come when a christian leader says something that's out of line but no one lumps all christians together.isn't that double standards?

Of course it isn't right to generalize, yet the truth of the matter is that spiritual leaders and their words and actions and the response of their followers DO effect people's perception of their religion. The words of muslim leaders DO effect how people perceive muslims. In the Australia case, however, I don't think that he was espousing rape, per se but rather just showing a general disregard and contempt for women. A raped man would have been a different story. IMHO, that disregard for the female gender is even more contemptible.

A generalization is never fair. There are priests who really mean to be sane and good and good ministers of their religious line. Others of the perverted type maybe be sinners and misinterpreters of the holy biblical law of God and nature. I personally don't like unmarried priesthood, monks, nuns, as I feel that they CONTRAVENE the holy law of biblical God and also sin against the teleological law of nature that has prepared and prepares us to get off-spring.

In this World we should always be allowed some freedom but there are behaviours that are generally not allowed in society because also society tends to follow the teleological law of nature.

If I should choose to be friend and supporter of a priest/priestess I would try to find one wanting to be a married one, a family-father/family-mother, as I think that that would be the most "healthy" choice among possibilities to start with. But of course I should always evaluate what kind of person that priest is, and what behavior he or she practices.

Peace!
That's the problem. If one priest molests a child or takes advantage of someone by virtue of his position all priest become suspect. What we need in the Church is discipline. Part of the blame should be laid on our bishops. Instead of disciplining errant priests there are cases when they cover up for those priests. They have the authority to discipline why can't they?

Unfortunately the number is not small. What is also unfortunate is that the Church as an organization is aware of it and they do more to protect the pedophile priest from justice than the child's from the priests. It is an organization wide problem. Not an isolated incident done by one individual.

Lets say with the stupid rule of not getting married puts them in position for what they are famous for down through the years ,and ending in much unnecessary heartbreak.Remaining unmarried is not a Bible law other than a recommendation to SOME who may wish to remain free to devote all time possible to ministry .

Where have you been? I see it all the time that ALL Christian priests (especially Catholic priests) are pedophiles because of the sins of a few. They are lumped just like Muslims, and neither is fair.

The number of priests who have been charged (either convicted or cut a deal for the victims' silence) is 4%, or 1 out of every 25.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_Catholic_sex_abuse_cases

Of course, they are not the only criminals among them. There are also those who took part in the Vatican-Mafia land flipping and bank fraud, those who assisted in the genocide of the jews, those who assisted in the genocide of the Tutsis in Rwanda, those who partake in and permit the violence in Nigeria, those who participated in murder, the abuses by cultholic - oops, catholic nuns in the Magdalene Laundries (pregnant women emprisoned, enslaved, and their babies stolen), etc.

The catholics? They're just like every other group of christians. That's the fact that should scare you.

Oh right - the muslims are no better: sharia laws (a woman who is raped is guilty of adultery) and the perpetration of female genital mutilation.

The only difference is who "thinks" one is right and who "thinks" the other is wrong. Both sides are as capable of repugnant violence as the other.

Sain spoke:
"As with man, the fruit rots. Pick from the basket that fruit and it's closest neighbors and dispose of them. Let then the good fruit be eaten for it offers no harm. As with man, one fruit rotted, rots many. Let not one fruit rot to many in the basket or all will be ruined."
We as the custodians of earth should pick out the rotten fruit and point them out to others. Let the others see that they are rotten but the rest of the fruit are good.
En Tis Blethec.

I agree with you! But as the saying goes (like the first answerer said), then some people tend to stay with their beliefs and think the rest of the bunch is ruined!

Are you kidding me? Every single time a Christian does something bad we all get blamed for it, that's the nature of the beast my dear.

ONE guy goes out and kills abortion doctors, and now all Christians are just foaming at the mouth to do the same...
