I'm rather proud of the work I put into having such a nice deck. The neighbors often look over the fence and admire how big and well kept it is. Yet, I would think Jesus would bless it, if I washed it off more than weekends. What does everyone think?

What do you say to some1 that tells you God don't exist. But on a Sunday they walk around and sing all these praise and worship songs. Why do they do this if they don't believe.

aside from those of you who "think" that he is nuts for claiming to hear from God, but don't think twice about what a nut job jonathan edwards would be by the same arguments, or e. taylor for getting off a plane based on a "hunch", it would not be such an unreasonable prediction based on current events without necessarily resorting to prophecies. my question is to avoid any such references to christian or pat bashing, and simply put what cities do you think would be affected and why "if" such were to happen?

Just like Adam did. Or just pick and choose any of the men who lived between Adam and Noah, they all lived extrodinarily long lives. This is aimed at those who take the Biblical account literally, please explain yourselves; I'm extremely confused. Either, how can this be true, or why do you believe it to be literal?

And people wonder why I'm an atheist...

......I was brought up in a very conservative group that was so caught up in what you can and cannot do in service, and then lived wickedly during the week, or just fell dead spiritually. Then recently after moving to a congregation labeld "liberal", I have realize how we were missing out on a personal relationship with Jesus, and now want to share with my family. Do you have any tips?

People who speak of "hell" associate it with divine punishment, but punishment is usually used as a corrective measure. How do people suffering in an eternal hell learn their lesson? Doesn't that make hell mere torture with absolutely no point to it?

I am an agnostic. Some Christians say that I will go to hell for not accepting their religion.

So what? Let's assume that it's all true and there is God who sends the nonbelievers to hell:

I do not care about myself. I do not care about the welfare of my own soul. I only care about other people and their wellbeing.

I must remain rational at all times in order to ensure their wellbeing. This is my principle. I am willing to spend an eternity burning in hell just to uphold this principle.

I cannot be scared. Why should I care? Why do I need to cry "Aba father" when I'm doing the work anyway?

Many people say that they were once a Christian, but are now atheist, agnostic, or otherwise.
But if we look at some BIBLICAL qualifications of being a TRUE Christian, we find that this CANNOT be the case. For example:
A GENUINE Christian is indwelled permanently by the Holy Spirit.

Jhn 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 [Even] the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Unless a person receives the Holy spirit, they are NOT a Christian.
This is not my OPINION, this is what the Bible says.

i have heard when the dead in Christ rise first they will come out of the graves with their spirit who is in Heaven already and join onto their new bodies and will go around preaching to people for 40 days, and we who are still alive at time will be changed in the twinkling of an eye before being caught up in the air and I heard that the glorious bodies that have been changed, will be going around and warning people about not getting the mark of the beast for 40 days. Jesus was on this earth for 40 days before he ascended into Heaven. Jesus has told many people that we will be going around for 40 days witnessing just as Jesus spent 40 days witnessing before we are taken up to Heaven to the banquet while the tribulation is going on on the earth. Christians what do you think of that? I believe it.

Why does the man automaticly have to be the CEO?

This is in response to my last question, in which more than one person said something similar to "Can there be two CEOs of a company or two Presidents of a country? No, one will be in charge and one will be second in command," implying that this is also the way it should be in a marriage. Now I don't agree with this (I know of plenty of companies run by partners), but for the sake of arguement, if we were going to assume this was true, why is the man automaticly the one in charge? Why can't the woman take the head?

Please explain.

I'm talking in scriptual terms here, when the scriptures refer to a little 's' spirit, what exactly is 'our' spirit. I have an idea, but just trying to broaden my perspective.

And if He is rich because He is so smart, why is it wrong for a televangelist like John Hagee to be well off?? He has 2 Phd's and has to pay for airtime in 96 nations.

Only 3 of those nations are profitable; USA, Bermuda and Canada.

Why is an evangelist "telling people what they want to hear for cash " and Dawkins "writing what people want to hear for cash" different?

Hagee bases his sermons on today's facts, current events, his expertise in abnormal psychology and theology...and the Bible. So please don't say because one is fact and the other is fiction.

Not to mention he is the head spokesperson for Christianity of Migdahl Ohr, a charity that brings abandoned poor Jewish kids out of Russia into Israel and gives them a home. Why is this so offensive to people, yet they have no problem giving their money to McDonalds, Paris Hilton and Richard Dawkins?

Lets have some good strong opinions! Have Fun!

Blessings,
David T

I was just flipping through the channels and I came across this show with some evangelist named Jack Van Impe. He was talking about all the good news in the media (like AIDS, threat of nuclear weapons, threat of avian flu). This (according to the show) is all good news because after these things kill all the non-believers all the believers will inherit the earth and live here forever. How sick is that? The implications are of course that all these terrible things are somehow part of God's master plan (he's so much smarter than us that we are just unable to see that all this suffering and death is really just because he loves us humans so darned much) and that we should not be putting any effort into curing these diseases, or using diplomacy to stop nuclear proliferation. That would just be prolonging those good times that start right after "the end" and why would we want to do that?

So did being religious make him crazy or did being crazy make him religious?

If anyone outthere has had strange unexplainable experiences, please tell me about them.

My best friends daughter is 12 years old, and she swears that she sees "things" in her mirror in her bedroom at night. Then, yesterday, she told her mom that she saw a "face" in her mirror while she was getting ready to go out with her friends. (No, it wasn't her face) It scared her so bad that she refused to go with her friends but insisted that her mom get her out of that house. So she came to my house.

Her mother has had some strange experiences since they moved to this particular house (about 8 months ago) but she hasn't "seen" anything. Things have gotten moved (not by the kids or herself) and she hates being alone there.

She has a son who is 10, and he is the only one in the house that hasn't had weird experiences......

So, please.... serious answers only. Has anyone else been through this?
