The human made of earth in the image of God was made lower than the angels and after Jesus came to earth the human was raised to a position higher than the angels. The devil is a purely spiritual being, and having once been an angel can never be higher than a human.

There is no independent existence of the Devil.
The base desires of the human being are the "Devil"
Any individual blinded by his base desires and wanting their fulfilment at any cost is thereby a Devil, because of the harm caused to other humans in particular and the society in general.
