......I was brought up in a very conservative group that was so caught up in what you can and cannot do in service, and then lived wickedly during the week, or just fell dead spiritually. Then recently after moving to a congregation labeld "liberal", I have realize how we were missing out on a personal relationship with Jesus, and now want to share with my family. Do you have any tips?

Legalism can kill the Spirit of God from moving in the Church, just as a Church that is TOO liberal can. I hope your church now is Biblically sound doctrinally, and realizes that we are FREE in Christ. Not to sin, but to experience His love as individuals, and not as robots, which is what legalism is all about.

God bless you!

Be careful. Your relationship with Jesus is what is important. That can happen in any church setting, or outside of them. But 'Liberal' churches can lead you down some dangerous paths. Some Liberals barely believe in Jesus as the Son of God. Living a Spirit-filled life is important. But so is keeping to the Truth.

In response to the first answer, beware that the traditions of the early Church were also put into place by Jesus Christ.

After His resurrection, He spent 40 days with the Apostles:

"[Jesus] being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God." --Acts 1:3

The Bible doesn't specify what these "things" are, but that is what we call the "tradition."

In his second epistle to the Thessalonians, St. Paul speaks of following the tradition installed by Jesus Christ by means of the Apostles:

"But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us." --2 Th. 3:6

So, there's a fine line between serving the tradition and adhering to it. Just make sure not to throw it out altogether.

Good luck.! I'm just kidding. Don't say anything. They will see the changes in your life and will be asking you why. If you must say anything just tell them you're going to a new church. As you grow in the Lord He will give you the wisdom what to say and when.

Jesus came to set us free from the law of men. I just try to do what the bible says not what the men have handed down as tradition.

Pray, now that you understand it's all about having a relationship with Jesus - pray and ask Him to open that door for your family- He will *and when he does - you will be able to guide them through.
God bless, and i have said a prayer for you *
