I'd like to limit this particular question to atheists who hold graduate or post-graduate degrees and frequently contribute to the discussion in this category.

Being aware that the most convinced of theists who read your questions and answers will not be converted to atheism, what is your purpose or agenda in contributing to the discussion in this category? Being an educated Christian who contributes frequently to the discussion in this category, I know what my own purpose/agenda is from my vantage point. I'm just curious if you feel the same from your own vantage point. Your honest & thoughtful responses are appreciated.

If someone believes in God why do they not believe in evolution too. I probably will get loads of thumbs down because I haven't read my bible properly. But who says that God just didn't want it that way? Maybe God just made all the stuff that went into the big bang then watched as the world evolved, why can't you have both? People who are religious do not believe in dinosairs sometimes, which is hard to believe as there is scientific evidence. Why can't it just be that God also created Dinosaurs?

What is the "Eastern Gate" that the Bible speaks of?
I heard it is in Jerusalem, and has not been opened since the 15th century. And it will not be opened until Christ returns.

Thoughtful and serious answers only please.

Biblical canon? One of the criteria was that it was apostolic in nature. We now suspect many books of the Bible as not having the authorship they claim. The Books of Peter, Moses, and I think Mark, for example.

I have heard many say that they are "persecuted",I would just like a few examples.
And of course when I say atheist I mean one who believes in no god what so ever.
This ought to be....interesting.

It's logically impossible to have a lack of belief... if you don't believe in God then by default you MUST BELIEVE the opposite...

Atheists BELIEVE that there is no God... there is no way around it... you can't hide behind the excuse that you don't believe anything because you do!!! Atheises have beliefs just like everyone else and just like everyone else they try to push those beliefs on everyone... just like the question that I linked to above.

I'm miserable at my Job . The pay sucks . And I'm really miserablel in life general . I have no friends and I have had some thoughts of suicide. Should I just keep my money since God has not been blessing me ?

"I would rather live my life as if there is a God, and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't, and die to find out there is."

I do not know who wrote it, I just received it in my e-mail.
Also, not sure of my feelings on it yet. You?

I was reading online about the unpardonable sin. How the Pharsies were so relucant to believe that Jesus is God that they accused his miracles of being works of the Devil, sorcery. I was on some chat room a while ago and I told the room that witchcraft was evil. This guy asked me if I was a Christian, and I said yes. He told me that Jesus did witchcraft. I said no he didn't. He told me that Jesus' miracles were done by magic. The only thing I remember saying was: I don't have an answer for you. I always get worried about commiting the unforgivable sin on a daily basis I'm always afraid that I have said it or will accidentally say it. Does my fear mean that I haven't said it before?

Atheism by definition is the lack of belief. For example: if told that there are giant invisible spiders in my backyard and I reject that claim, I am a disbeliever of those giant spiders. If told there are squirrels in my back yard while being shown photo evidence, and I still choose not to believe given evidence that at that momment I don't see any squirrels, I become someone that believes there are no squirrels. In conclusion, the difference between disbelieving and not believing is that the first takes the stance based on no evidence and the second takes the stance based on rejecting evidence because there is other (or better) evidence to refute those.

All your religions are based on ZERO evidence. Saying "the evidence is all around you" is not evidence. Saying "just like a watchmaker has a maker the human must have a maker" isn't evidence either. What you have in your hands is ignorance being passed off as evidence.

Understood Theists?
