Sin is what hurts us and others in the process down the road when a person's eyes are open to the reality of what sin does then they are open to seeing how God sees it.
When a person commits a sin there is a consequence to their sin. For example adultery the act of being unfaithful towards another person is an one example.
What does adultery do? It causes problems in a person's marriage and if the couple has children then the children suffer as a result of that sin. They are hurting while their two parents are hurting as the result of adultery. The bible gives us examples of that which shows the results of what sin does.
God teaches us that if we obey what he commands then we can live a much fruitful and better life. When we avoid sin then we can learn to live in a way where we can avoid hurting others.
God came down as a man called Jesus to show humanity that there is another way. We are given a second chance because God loves us. God is gracious, faithful, holy, honest, consistent, merciful, and patience.

Who ever said God hates sin? Has anyone ever talked to him and received an answer back that you didn't imagine you received? I doubt it. I think God's more of a business person, he likes to hear from us. We screw up, then we call in and ask for forgiveness...a never ending cycle. If we didn't have sin, churches would be outta business. Sin has been around for a long time now...its ok to a degree, only difference is in this new decade, theres all kinds of new "gods" people are all of the sudden praying to...which is why people cry when I say Merry Christmas or the pledge of allegiance (i do live in the USA). No one knows for sure what God has up his sleeve, so dont worry. Just live your life as a good person and you will be just hunky dory. I will say this though.."if the rivers do boil, and the skies do fall, I bet your as* no one is gonna be praying to Allah when its going down".

God hates sin because it leads to eternal damnation for us. He hates sin because of how it brings human beings into shame and reproach. He hates sin because He is perfectly holy. Sin has marred all of creation. Because of sin God cursed the earth. He hates sin because it necessitated the tortorous death of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Take a look around the world and see for yourself what sin has done and is doing to mankind. That alone should answer your question.
PS: Yes we are created in God's image, but that image, too, has been marred by sin. God is triune, so are humans. God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Mankind is body, soul and spirit. God has the ability to reason and communicate, so does mankind. Etc etc etc

We are no longer made in GOD's image. That ended when Adam sinned. We are now made in the image of fallen mankind.
GOD is Holy so He hates anything which is not of faith or righteousness. There is no sin found in GOD therefore He does not wish to see sin in any of his creations or sons and daughters.

If you have children you could get an inkling as to why God hates sin. It destroys your relationship with Him for one thing. Usually, because it causes you to leave Him, not the other way around. How do you feel when you kids are bad, well God is our Heavenly Father. He is far more patient than we are, slow to anger, and removes our sins as far as the east is from the west.

Who says God hates sin? Sin was created so that there was a way to measure good in people. Like all things, it creates the balance that is necessary in all life.

God is like a parent who told his child "Don't eat that pie!", but left the child in the room with the pie, silverware ready. Then the little boy's friend comes over and says "Let's eat the pie!", because frankly, people desire things. So when the parent found out, he punished the child for the rest of eternity.

God hates sin because sin cannot enter Heaven. Sin hates the people that God loves.

Why would God hate sin when he knew it is necessary component to achieve perfection? Will you sin if you know its a sin? Of course not. But how are you gonna know it if you don't dip yourself into it by sheer ignorance? Remember the tree of knowledge of good and evil? We have it then let's use it to discover the truth, right?

Sin is separation. We were meant to be in relationship with God and others. Sin disrupts this natural loving relationship.
