In the OT God tells people that if they are not perfect in their physical body, that they should not come before His altar. Yet in the NT Jesus show great compassion to the infirm.

Same God, different agendas.
In the OT, God was just getting everything set up for the NT,
choosing a chosen people, revealing to them his Revelation, etc.
Yes, he was harsh at times like any father is, but not always.
The NT is the fulfillment of the OT.

Different? The Old testament was just a guideline for God's people to follow until he implemented his plan of salvation on the cross. The timing was critical as with common practice of crucifixions on the cross during the Roman rule. Jesus said that he was the new testament. This was only fulfilled when he died on the cross. Jesus brought the old testament laws into effect with much more deeper morals. The New Testament was finished 40 years after Jesus's death and with the death of his disciples. God sent himself in flesh. Jesus said I AM HE.... as also forgave that women of her sin. If Jesus is not God, how could a man possible forgive someone else of their sin?

It's always been about grace. OT and NT. Look in Genesis after Adam fell. He made the way before the world was ever creation. It has always been grace. There may have been the Law in the OT, but the Law was to show man their sin and how they can't even remain obedient to it and their need for a Savior.

God has always communicated with people on their level of comprehension., Paganism, the law of moses, many prophets, Sages, saints, burning bushes,ETC. wWe tend to think now, but humanity and the universe should be viewed in its entirety. Everything is all connected, each wave of humanity has within the hearts all the accumalated knowledge from creation (see romans 1-19/21) Thanks to all the Saints who have Gone before we have a very easy path to God. Also consider the limits of the inspired one who wrote the scripture, and all the politicians and powers that be, whose hands the bible passed through. for a clearer picture of Gods teachings see www.stephen-knapp.com/articles_to_read. Christianity, buddhism, and islam have their roots in the vedas, siddha yoga, vedanta philosophy and hinduism.

They are very different. I'll repeat the explaination I got and accepted. That is the bible represents our understanding of God and as our understanding grew (as in NT) our preception of God changed from the stern punishing God of the Old Testament to the loving God of the new Testament.

Very easily! God in OT showed himself as the Holy of Israel, the LORD Almighty, the judge of the nations, the builder up and casting down of nations and choosing one race to send forth the Messiah Jesus Christ! In the NT The same God is clothed in flesh and dwelt among us, we have seen his glory of the only begotten Son of God.He is a holy God, He is a loving God and such has made a way to breach the gap between sinful man and holy God and it was his flesh his body which was prepared in advanced that he might reconcile all men to Himself! Amen and amen!
